SUNY Oneonta is excited to invite applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Psychology beginning Fall 2026. This opportunity is within our Department of Psychology and is open to candidates from any area of the field. We especially welcome applicants who can bring expertise in research methods, statistics, clinical, or health psychology and related areas of psychology. Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching, research, student advisement, university service, and continuing professional development. The successful candidate will report directly to the chair of the Psychology Department.
The Department of Psychology here at SUNY Oneonta is a thriving department of ten full-time faculty members pursuing a variety of research interests that create an engaging learning environment, distinguished by highly accessible faculty, teamwork, research opportunities for students, and information technology-supported classrooms. The department has a continued commitment to provide a solid knowledge base in psychology, teach scientific inquiry and critical thinking skills, teach competence in written and oral communication, and support ethical and social responsibility in a diverse world. Duties include but are not limited to:
+ Teach courses in statistics and create courses in their specialty.
+ Have an active research program.
+ Participate in student involvements such as advisement, research supervision, and mentoring.
+ Provide service to the department and university.

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
+ Doctorate Degree in Psychology, or a closely related discipline. ABD considered; official confirmation of degree conferral by issuing institution by start of employment.
Preferred:
+ Experience teaching research methods, statistics, or clinical psychology courses.
+ Experience teaching courses in one or more of the following core areas of our curriculum, and/or upper-division electives:
+ Cognitive Psychology
+ Biological Psychology
+ Developmental Psychology
+ Social Psychology
+ Clinical Psychology
+ Ability to teach Advanced research/statistics.
+ Potential to contribute to our applied experiential learning opportunities (e.g., community outreach, evidence-based interventions with non-profits, service-learning, etc.).
+ Evidence of teaching effectiveness, capability of initiating a suitable and productive research program, and scholarly productivity.
+ Demonstrated experience involving undergraduate students in research.
+ Experience advising and mentoring undergraduate students.
+ Experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or service with diverse and/or multicultural populations.
