Description

We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join a team in Cottage Grove, Minnesota. This contract position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to essential financial operations in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing accounting cycles, handling reconciliations, and ensuring accurate financial reporting while supporting multiple active projects.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee weekly accounting processes, including expense approvals, payroll submissions, invoicing, accounts payable, reimbursements, and accounts receivable/collections.

• Perform month-end close procedures, such as revenue reconciliations, payroll accruals, and general ledger account reconciliations.

• Process 10–20 invoices weekly while supporting 55–60 active projects to ensure timely and accurate transactions.

• Manage transaction-level accounts payable and accounts receivable in a fast-paced setting.

• Utilize QuickBooks effectively to maintain financial records and ensure accuracy.

• Conduct detailed account reconciliations to ensure compliance and resolve discrepancies.

• Assist with corporate tax-related tasks, including sales tax and corporate tax returns.

• Support system integration efforts and address backlog work from previous staffing gaps.

• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain the general ledger.

• Collaborate with teams to enhance financial processes and maintain professionalism in all accounting activities.

Requirements • Proven experience managing accounting cycles and closing books for organizations of similar size.

• Proficiency in QuickBooks for accounting and financial management.

• Strong understanding of corporate tax, sales tax, and tax return preparation.

• Expertise in journal entries and general ledger management.

• Familiarity with month-end close procedures and revenue reconciliations.

• Ability to handle transaction-level accounts payable and accounts receivable.

• Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

• Capacity to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
