    This position will remain open until it is filled; the posting will be closed once a candidate is selected.

     

    Are you an experienced property and casualty insurance professional looking to serve the public by answering questions and investigating complaints regarding property and casualty insurance?

     

    TheIdaho Department of Insurance (DOI) (https://doi.idaho.gov/) is seeking a Consumer Affairs Officer with property and casualty insurance experience to provide customer service to the public. The ideal candidate will be customer service focused and have experience helping consumers with auto and home questions and issues. The selected candidate will receive training on property and casualty regulation as well as support from an experienced team (Consumer Affairs section (https://doi.idaho.gov/consumer/ConsumerAffairsHelp) ).

     

    The ideal candidate will also be detail-oriented with excellent communication skills. This position requires experience manipulating computer databases to store, retrieve, compile, and analyze data as well as experience with word processing programs.

    EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

    + Reviews, analyzes, and resolves insurance-related complaints and problems; provides technical information and assistance to the insurance industry and the public.

    + Analyzes consumer complaints relating to the insurance industry to determine whether a violation of Idaho insurance laws or a breach of contract provisions has occurred.

    + Requests documentation, information, and assistance from insurance companies in resolving complaints and problems.

    + Negotiates resolution of complaints.

    + Investigates code violations.

    + Prepares documentation and submits to supervisor for legal referral.

    + Responds to technical questions from insurance companies, adjusters, agents, and others on claims procedures, underwriting, and insurance laws, regulations, and procedures.

    + Reviews insurance policies and related documents to assure compliance with Idaho insurance laws and regulations.

    + Provides information, interpretations, and assistance to the public in a variety of insurance matters, including alternative coverages, policies, and legal requirements for coverage.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Some knowledge of:

    + Investigative techniques

    + Interviewing techniques

    Experience:

    + Mediating conflicts

    + Analyzing and compiling information into meaningful written correspondence and reports

    + Using a personal computer

    + Making oral presentations before groups

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION SPECIALTIES

    Insurance –

    Good knowledge of the insurance industry's working areas Property and Casualty insurance including:

    + Marketing or

    + Underwriting or

    + Claims processing or

    + Policyholder services

    Some knowledge of:

    + Legal and medical terminology commonly used in insurance contracts

    + The functions and responsibilities of insurance agents and adjusters

    Experience:

    + Interpreting insurance contracts and coverage relating to property and casualty insurance,

    + Applying, and explaining insurance policies and laws.
