Are you a skilled tradesperson who enjoys working outdoors, preserving history, and making a real impact?
Heyburn State Park is hiring a Maintenance Craftsman Senior to help maintain and improve the facilities at one of Idaho’s largest and most historically significant parks.
Established in 1908, Heyburn is the oldest state park in the Pacific Northwest and a beloved destination for hikers, paddlers, equestrians, anglers, and families. The park’s towering Ponderosa pines give way to flower-filled meadows and placid waters. Visitors can enjoy the peaceful serenity of cottages, cabins and campsites and admire the work of the Civilian Conservation Corps who built many buildings within the park in the 1930s.
Comprised of about 5,744 acres of land and 2,332 acres of water, Heyburn State Park is a paddler and pedaler paradise. Miles of trails await you whether you are a hiker, cyclist or horse rider. Bring your own boat or rent a kayak, canoe, or standup paddleboard and enjoy three lakes — Chatcolet, Benewah and Hidden Lakes, or the shadowy St. Joe River, which meanders along the eastern boundary of the park. The Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes, one of the most popular biking trails in the western United States, runs directly through the park.
As a Maintenance Craftsman Senior, you’ll play a vital role in keeping Heyburn’s buildings, infrastructure, and park systems operational and visitor-ready. You’ll work hands-on across a variety of skilled trades, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and water systems maintenance. In this role, you’ll also make a direct impact on the visitor experience and the preservation of a remarkable site.
This is an active, year-round position requiring broad technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and comfort working both indoors and outdoors in all weather.
Housing is available for this position.
This is your opportunity to join a dedicated team that protects Idaho’s outdoor heritage while welcoming thousands of visitors to one of the Northwest’s most historic landscapes.
