Job Description:

Information Technology Services at Iowa State University is seeking applicants for a Research Computing Systems Analyst II position on the Research IT team. This position will support a wide range of research disciplines across various computational technologies including cloud services, backend webdev, security compliance, and high-performance computing. As a member of the Research IT team, this position will work directly with student and faculty researchers helping them find and use relevant technical resources.

What You'll Do:

+ Assist researchers with selecting and using cloud services and web technologies; ensure solutions are secure, cost-effective, and meet ISU standards for branding and accessibility.

+ Provide guidance on data classification and protections; configure billing alerts and cost estimates for cloud usage.

+ Consult on computational research problems, recommend technologies, and manage HPC job submissions and resource configurations.

+ Automate server deployment and scaling using DevOps tools like Ansible; identify and implement automation opportunities.

+ Collaborate on shared resources, contribute documentation, and train team members through presentations and one-on-one sessions.

+ Monitor system health and logs, enforce security standards, and respond to incidents in coordination with ITS Security.

+ Stay current on emerging web and cloud technologies; test and evaluate new tools and propose improvements.
