    Job Overview

     

    PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Team Lead Consumer Lending at our Omaha, Nebraska; Irving, Texas or San Antonio, Texas service center. The primary purpose of this job is to oversee the daily operation of assigned loan queues and the daily operations of assigned Consumer Lending staff, including Underwriting, Processing and/or funding teams. Performs the duties of the Senior Manager, Consumer Lending in the manager's absence.

    Credit and Process Analysis

    + Research and resolve complex member problems within delegated authority, including, but not limited to, processing fee reversals, evaluating exception requests, and resolving application decisioning, processing, and funding issues.

    + Maintain a detailed knowledge of the job responsibilities of Direct Reports; perform those duties as needed throughout the day.

    + Maintain a detailed knowledge of origination platforms, workflows and application lifecycle as it pertains to application processing, underwriting, and/or funding for all Consumer Lending products as assigned.

    + Rigorously evaluate, justify, and execute requests for exceptions to policy within delegated authority.

    Collaboration

    + Build and enhance relationships with existing external stakeholders (dealerships, finance managers, lead generation partners, OS vendors, etc).

    + Review and approve correspondence related to consumer applications in collaboration with Executive Correspondence.

    + Work closely with Senior Management to provide feedback regarding the development and refinement of the Consumer Lending program, including policies, procedures, work methods, and product enhancements.

    + Assist IT department, and/or external LOS stakeholders, with user acceptance and other systems testing.

    Leadership/Team Management

    + Supervise a Consumer Lending team on a daily basis to include establishing goals, priorities, and expected performance level of the team.

    + Administer stated objectives, goals, and performance standards for assigned team .

    + Oversee and mentor all staff to ensure adequate training and performance is achieved.

    + Monitor real time assigned queues as well as the call queue for optimal customer service levels.

    + Ensure that all monthly quality reviews are completed for all Consumer Lending positions in a timely manner.

    + Provide input to the Senior Manager, Consumer Lending regarding hiring staff and managing job performance on a regular basis, including probationary and annual evaluations and the administration of disciplinary actions.

    + Prepare and distribute various production reports.

    + Provide training and guidance to peers, direct reports, Operations, and other PenFed staff related to consumer underwriting, processing, & funding practices.

    + Assume the duties and responsibility of the manager when the manager is unavailable.

    + Maintain industry knowledge around emerging best practices and trends in the consumer lending field.

    + Discover opportunities to recommend changes that will streamline processes, improve efficiency and push the business forward.

    + Assist with maintaining PenFed's compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and ordinances by abiding by PenFed compliance program and all policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

    Qualifications

    Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

     

    + Bachelor's Degree in a related field strongly preferred.

    + Minimum of four (4) years' of experience in financial services, or, two (2) years' experience supervising/managing employees, is required.

    + Minimum of four (4) years of Underwriter experience is required, six (6) years plus preferred.

    + Experience coaching, leading, and developing subordinates is required.

    + Knowledge of industry best practices around lending, loan processing & underwriting.

    + Ability to obtain Senior Lender authority with PenFed by successfully passing an advanced underwriting training course.

    + Knowledge of PenFed structure, products, policies and procedures preferred.

     

    Supervisory Responsibility

     

    This position will directly supervise Consumer Lending department staff.

     

    Licenses and Certifications

     

    There are no additional licenses or certifications required for this position.

     

    Work Environment

     

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

     

    *Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.*

     

    Travel

     

    Limited travel to various worksites is required.
