As a Structural Designer, you will be responsible for preparing comprehensive drawing packages that comply with building codes and regulatory standards. You will maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, translate design requirements into precise configurations, and coordinate the implementation of design criteria using industrial tools.
Responsibilities
+ Prepare comprehensive drawing packages in compliance with building codes and standards.
+ Adhere to safety protocols to prevent electrical hazards and other risks.
+ Translate design requirements into precise configurations, perform calculations, and coordinate design criteria implementation.
+ Participate in planning meetings and adapt designs to evolving project needs.
+ Ensure compliance with contractual specifications and local regulations while meeting deadlines.
+ Communicate progress through clear reporting and presentations.
+ Collaborate with engineers and production staff to align design concepts with project goals.
+ Review documentation, procedural manuals, and customer specifications to identify critical design attributes.
+ Perform detailed calculations to support product design and structural integrity.
+ Analyze vendor quotes, drawings, and diagrams to create accurate structural layouts.
+ Revise designs and drawings based on change orders, customer requests, or errors during construction.
Essential Skills
+ Structural design expertise in buildings, stairs, cable trays, and sheet metal.
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD and Inventor for 2D and 3D design.
+ Associates degree in Civil Engineering or Drafting Technology.
+ 2+ years of experience designing enclosures/buildings.
+ 3+ years of experience with steel design/detailing using AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D.
+ Knowledge of ASTM, I-beam, oil and gas industry standards, NEC, NEMA, OSHA, and IEEE standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Knowledge of NEC, OSHA, and IEEE Standards.
+ Experience in manufacturing environments.
Work Environment
You will work Monday through Friday, with flexibility on start and end times as long as 8 hours of work are completed each day. The position is 100% onsite, and you will join a team of 5 other designers. You will be managing 5-7 projects simultaneously, coordinating with teams, manufacturing, project managers, and sales. This is an exciting opportunity in a flat organization with upward mobility and growth potential, as the team is expanding into new business lines and diversifying industries.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $33.65/hr.
