Job Title: Machine Operator Assistant

Job Description

As a Machine Operator Assistant, you will be responsible for setting up and adjusting machines and equipment for production runs, as well as maintaining the machine's optimal operation through regular cleaning and lubrication. Additionally, you may troubleshoot issues and submit maintenance requests as needed, coordinate crew member assignments, and provide training for new team members.

Responsibilities

+ Operate offline and auxiliary binding/finishing/packaging equipment.

+ Set up and adjust machines and equipment for production runs.

+ Clean, lubricate, and maintain the machine to ensure optimum operation.

+ Troubleshoot machine issues and submit maintenance requests as needed.

+ Coordinate the assignment of crew members and provide training for new team members.

+ Perform minor clerical tasks such as maintaining machine operating and maintenance records.

+ Write new identification labels for computer tapes.

+ Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning and lubricating equipment.

+ Identify improper machine operation and make basic adjustments.

+ Exert force to move objects as required by the job.

Essential Skills

+ 1 year of machine operating experience.

+ Ability to pull jams and get the line started.

+ Troubleshooting knowledge.

+ Experience in loading materials into machines using a forklift or manual pallet jack.

+ Ability to utilize a tape measure.

+ Skill in consistently lifting 50+ lbs.

+ Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.

+ Ability to read and write English.

+ Basic math skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Mechanical aptitude.

+ Familiarity with production and machine operation.

+ Skill in using power tools and general production equipment.

+ Experience with paper mills and paper processing.

+ Ability to set up machines and palletize products.

Work Environment

This position is based in a paper processing and manufacturing facility where the production floor is very loud. Safety is a priority, and ear plugs as well as steel toe or composite shoes are required at all times. The role is for the 3rd shift, running from 11pm to 7am.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Covington, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.05 - $18.05/hr.
