Job Title: Maintenance Technician** **Job Description

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning of various machinery including mixers, saws, conveyors, box makers, sealers, fryers, freezers, Raytheon machines, forklifts, separators, and baggers. You will use your expertise to keep production equipment operating smoothly by performing necessary oiling and greasing tasks.

Responsibilities

+ Troubleshoot and repair production equipment malfunctions as reported by line supervisors.

+ Test and operate production machinery before and after repairs are completed.

+ Inspect and maintain all production equipment according to schedule.

+ Operate drills, saws, grinders, welding apparatus, presses, and various manual tools to repair and maintain equipment.

+ Monitor and maintain building and grounds functions, including plumbing, general electrical wiring, and painting.

+ Communicate the progress of repair work, potential problems, and general functioning to line supervisors and incoming maintenance shifts.

+ Submit proper requests for parts necessary to facilitate repairs and maintenance.

+ Record and maintain all relevant maintenance work completed, keeping a logbook of daily activities.

+ Coordinate maintenance efforts with outside machinery technicians for efficient and proper repairs.

+ Make equipment adjustments as requested by line supervisors to assist machine operators.

Essential Skills

+ Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.

+ Proficiency in reading blueprints and conveyor maintenance.

+ Knowledge of electrical systems and compressors.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ High school diploma or GED.

+ Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

You will work the 2nd shift from 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The work environment exposes you to loud noise, food-grade dust and odors, moving and vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, heights, traffic, anhydrous ammonia, oil, and electricity. You may also encounter adverse weather conditions including extreme cold, heat, rain, snow, dust, smoke, and odors. Allergens present in the plant include fish, shellfish, nuts, eggs, wheat, soy, milk, and coconut.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.
