Job Title: Packager 1st and 2nd shifts

Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for packaging and bagging finished products at the end of the production process in a food production environment. This position requires wearing a full gown and hair net to ensure food safety standards are maintained. You will work in the packaging area, rotating between duties such as boxing finished products, discarding faulty bags, stacking boxes, and bagging items. This role involves lifting up to 30 pounds, standing for the entire shift, and communicating equipment errors to machine operators. Two breaks are provided, with one being paid and one unpaid.

Responsibilities

+ Verify that the proper packaging is available and being used.

+ Confirm the quantity of tortillas in the stack and notify the lead if the count is inaccurate.

+ Quickly and neatly place tortillas in the package as they exit from the counter stacker.

+ Place the filled package in the proper location for sealing.

+ Inspect seals and set aside any packages that do not meet quality standards.

+ Verify that the code date is legible and accurate.

+ Quickly and neatly place the proper number of packages in the case, utilizing inserts if necessary.

+ Prepare boxes for packaging of product and ensure box printers are operating properly.

+ Seal and tape product boxes.

+ Verify that only good pallets are being used and that the finished product is placed correctly on a pallet.

+ Wrap the pallet with a layer of stretch wrap and move the pallet to the warehouse for loading.

+ Ensure the packing area has adequate supplies and empty food waste containers in the compactor.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in packaging, general production, and on a packaging line.

+ Ability to lift 50 pounds consistently.

+ Comfortability working in a hot environment, up to 100 degrees.

+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

+ Comfortable working with a computer for data entry.

+ Standing for up to 8 hours a day.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ 6 months experience in packaging.

+ Preferred experience in food production, ideally in a bakery.

+ Comfortable wearing a full gown, hair net, and beard net if applicable.

+ Ability to work in an environment with gluten in the air.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Eagan, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.15 - $18.15/hr.
