PL 16: $142,000 - 170,000

The Job You Will Perform:

The Manager of Manufacturing Excellence (MME) is a full time, Lead Team position who is a dedicated resource in the ME organization reporting to the Mill Manager. This position will be required to spend a significant amount of the time on improvement projects and will be responsible for managing multiple priorities across a broad spectrum of fields, including but not limited to technical, operations, reliability and people.

The MME is responsible for the platform and process for managing improvement within the facility, especially in the areas of fiber, energy, reliability, productivity, engagement and customers.

+ Coordinates the evaluation, identification and prioritization of mill performance improvement opportunities, Rgap analysis and benchmarking activities

+ Works with other Lead Team members to integrate and prioritize Manufacturing Excellence (ME) initiatives for the facility.

+ Champions the mill’s overall improvement process.

+ Ensures the mill replicates best practices appropriately

+ Leads projects personally and mentors other project leaders

+ Mentors White Belts and Green Belts

+ Serves as REACH Recruiting Champion for full time REACH Engineers, Co-ops and Interns

+ Ensure the mill maintains a current 5 year plan targeting a minimum of 3% YoY improvement

Physical Demands/Working Environment:

+ Must be able to wear all required safety equipment.

+ Noise levels in excess of 90 dB.

+ Ability to work in temperatures in excess of 100°F and less than 32°F occasionally and/or seasonably as needed

+ Working environment is 24/7—ability to be on-call as needed and/or required.

+ Some High Stress Situations

+ Interaction with Senior Leadership

+ Ability to sit and perform deskwork type activities, including computer work, up to 8 hours a day.

The Skills You Will Bring:

+ B.S. degree in engineering (electrical, chemical or mechanical) or a related field

+ Successfully completed assignments as an Area Manager or a higher level position.

+ A minimum of 7-10 years of manufacturing management or process experience in a heavy industrial environment (prior paper or chemical industry experience preferred).

+ MME must have ability to complete black belt level training to learn 6 sigma skills and facilitate the use of the skills in the facility.

+ Demonstrated interest in and support for Six Sigma processes and methodology

+ Possess good skills in written and oral communication, problem solving, time management, conflict resolution and task group facilitation.

+ Possess strong computer knowledge and skills that include experience with spreadsheets, word processing and Minitab.

+ Geographic flexibility for future assignments and career growth

+ Ability to excel with minimal supervision in a team environment.
