Amergis Behavior Technician (BT)

Position Overview

Amergis is seeking dedicated Behavior Technicians to support a highly active K–2 Instructional Program at Whitman Post. This program serves 10 students, many with a primary eligibility of Autism, and requires caregivers who bring energy, patience, and enthusiasm to a fast-paced classroom environment.

This is an extremely active classroom. Candidates must understand they will be BUSY throughout the day.

We are hiring for two roles:

+ Classroom Behavior Technician

+ 1:1 Behavior Technician Please indicate which position(s) you would like to be considered for.

Requirements

+ Illinois Paraprofessional License (required)

+ 2+ years of experience working with children with special needs

+ Ability to support students with diverse behavioral and instructional needs

+ Comfort working in a highly active, hands-on classroom environment

+ Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

+ Support students in a K–2 instructional setting with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs

+ Implement teacher-directed and behavior-support strategies

+ Assist with transitions, routines, and classroom activities

+ Provide individualized support (for 1:1 BT role)

+ Maintain a positive, safe, and structured learning environment

+ Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and school teams
