Responsible for repairing and maintaining various equipment in the Houma, LA Yard and will report to the Fabrication Foreman. Must have a 6GR welding certificate or have the ability to pass a 6GR pre-employment test.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
+ Ability to troubleshoot problems, identify, propose and implement remedies.
+ Perform repairs and maintenance aboard dredges and other marine vessels.
+ Install, assemble, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various equipment.
+ Fabricate with different types of metals via torches, plasma & other related craft power tools.
+ Understanding of diagrams, schematics, drawings and technical manuals for repairs and diagnostics of equipment.
+ Understand and sketch complex mechanical and structural drawings.
+ Utilize instruments to measure angles, material thickness and distances i.e. - squares, levels, tapes & other craft related devices.
+ Regularly communicate and work with contractors, vendors, and other trades
+ Ensure work areas are kept clean and well organized.
+ Complete assigned tasks in a safe/productive manner.
+ Follows all company and work site safety policies/procedures and commits to an “Incident and Injury Free” work environment.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
+ Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
+ Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.
Qualifications
+ 3+ years of fabrication and shipyard experience
+ Technical understanding of stick, tig/mig & flux-core processes
+ Experience in weld testing procedures. 6GR
+ Understanding of ABS, OSHA, and USCG regulations related to field
+ Must have reliable transportation to and from the job site
+ Travel (by land, air, and water) to field locations is required, transportation paid.
+ Ability to work a 50-hour work week M-F, overtime as needed
+ Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with craft workers under his/her supervision and management/supervision.
+ Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools and layout tools as well as measurement tools.
Requirements
+ Must possess a valid Driver's license, must have a good driving record
+ Required Certification:
1. FCAW-6GR (Required)
2. SMAW-6GR (Required)
+ TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential (preferred)
+ Must be able to tolerate heat, harsh weather conditions, confined spaces, and high noise levels in a shipyard setting
+ Work will frequently require individuals to push, pull, bend, or stand for long periods of time, and climb ladders.
+ Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies, and parts, up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
+ Performs other duties as required.
