Description
$62,353 Annually and a Free Family YMCA Membership
Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Program Director is responsible for the development, coordination, planning, administration, supervision, and delivery of Pre-School, Youth Sports, Arts and Humanities, Birthday party programming. Major emphasis is on program excellence and developing quality care of the highest standard including the satisfaction safety of the participants in attendance. The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester is conveyed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Overall responsibility for Pre-School, Youth Sports, Arts and Humanities, Birthday party programming and services.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate all staff and volunteers relative to program responsibilities.
• Plan, promote, and direct the YMCA’s innovative programming, and special events for program areas.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with participants, parents, volunteers, and donors.
• Responsible for facilitating department revenue growth and overall enhancement and increase of programs and services.
• Accountable for department budget development and management. Ensure a strong fiscal position and appropriate resource allocation.
• Responsible for the overall facility appearance, and related equipment.
• Ensure all program operations are consistent with Association procedures, including maintenance, emergency, accident, purchasing, personnel, and accounting systems.
• Implement programs that identify safety, quality, and excellent customer service as top priorities.
• Maintain accurate records as required by the NYS Health Department Sanitary Code.
• Responsible for assisting with the financial development of Annual Campaign.
• Serve as a member of the total staff team in the responsibility for the administration, promotion and operation of their home YMCA.
• Participate accordingly in assigned projects, including, staff trainings and meetings, product groups and special events.
• Maintain all required certifications.
• All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Possess Bachelor’s degree in recreation, education or related field.
• Minimum of three years’ experience creating, implementing and managing high quality and large volume programs.
• At least two years’ experience in a supervisory role with skills in recruiting, training and staff management.
• Must be self-motivated, hands on team leader with strong communications, networking and collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of various resources for programming ideas and the skills to utilize that information in directing daily activities.
• High level of attention to detail and quality of service and facilities. Demonstrated commitment to high standards of member service and satisfaction.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Polished, professional demeanor with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Demonstrated success in driving revenue and managing expenses.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification is required or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire date.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.
• Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. climbing, aggressive behavior).
• Ability to remain calm, objective and respectful in potentially stressful situations (i.e. crying upset child, upset parent, or upset staff).
• Ability to be flexible and willing to adjust to change.
• Ability to move around the room to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to move from program site to branch and is required to enter all YMCA environments including, program space, buses, schools, pools, and program area.

$62,353 per year
