Job Description

A client of Insight Global is looking for a Sr Windows System Administrator to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing the entire IT infrastructure, including Windows and Linux servers, workstations, networking equipment, and NetApp storage systems. This role will lead VMware architecture and operations across a multi-site vSphere environment, including design, deployment, capacity planning, performance tuning, and automation using tools such as PowerCLI, vRealize Automation, Terraform, or Ansible. The position involves storage integration and management, collaborating on provisioning and disaster recovery strategies, as well as implementing data protection, encryption, and compliance measures. The Senior Systems Administrator will serve as the escalation point for virtualization and storage incidents, develop proactive monitoring solutions, and partner with cross-functional teams on projects such as cloud migrations and hyper-converged deployments. Additional responsibilities include mentoring junior administrators, maintaining documentation, evaluating emerging technologies, managing vendor relationships, and supporting Windows/Linux baselines, Active Directory, and endpoint security.

Compensation: $70/hr. -- 84/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 9 years of experience within IT

• Active DoD Secret security clearance

• Possess a currently valid Security+ CE certificate (IAT Level II) or any other IAT Level III DoD 8140/8570 baseline certification

• Experience operating under and managing systems within current applicable information systems compliance standards

• Experience within NetApp Storage administration; platform implementation, migration, and maintenance (other technologies will be considered if candidate demonstrates sufficient understanding of enterprise storage systems)

• Experience maintaining Classified Windows Domains in effective operations to include advanced knowledge of the following: Microsoft Active Directory (AD) - deployment, maintenance, and support, Group Policy Objects (GPO) - creation, modeling, and maintenance, DNS Server administration, DHCP Server administration, and Windows Server Update Servers (WSUS), SCCM, or similar third-party software update system administration • Hands on experience with VMWare

• Solid understanding of data integrity, encryption, and compliance standard

• Leadership/mentorship experience

• Experience in Linux (RHEL 7, 8, 9)
