Job Description
Insight Global's large semiconductor client is looking for an Optical Design Engineer to join their FAB in Charlotte, NC. This person will develop and manufacture wafer-based micro-optics and micro-optical systems for high-volume, low-cost manufacturing. This role leads product development teams and acts as the primary technical contact between customers and the NPI team. This is a permanent position, and the salary range is $90,000-$140,000 based on experience and education level.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities Include:
Design and develop custom optical systems/products for high-volume manufacturing.
Lead product development teams and manage projects from inception to manufacture.
Perform complex optical design, prototyping, and testing while meeting milestones.
Represent Broadcom at technical conferences; support Sales/Marketing for new customers.
Work in cleanroom environments and with high-power lasers as needed.

Skills and Requirements
BS in relevant field + 5+ years experience (or PhD with less experience)
Hands-on experience with high-volume manufacturing systems
Proficiency in Zemax or CodeV; working knowledge of LabView, Matlab, CAD tools (SolidWorks)
Strong knowledge of geometrical and physical optics, imaging optics, and optical systems design
Experience with diffractive optical elements (DOEs)
Solid understanding of NPI processes and design for manufacture Experience with optical test methods and automation via LabView
Familiarity with semiconductor reticle layout tools and workflows
Statistical methods and design of experiments knowledge
