Customer Service Representative – Lansing Location

Hours:

+ Monday–Thursday: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

+ Friday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking a Customer Service Representative (CSR) to join our Lansing team. This role involves assisting patients and customers with insurance inquiries, product eligibility, cost estimates, and scheduling needs. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

+ Answer incoming calls promptly and assist customers with insurance and product-related questions.

+ Coordinate schedules for clinical staff.

+ Verify insurance information and obtain necessary authorizations and referral forms.

+ Process and maintain orders in the computer system, ensuring accurate status updates.

+ File customer orders and medical records.

+ Discharge patients courteously and prepare documentation for imaging.

+ Provide support in a walk-in environment with approximately 30 patients daily (mix of scheduled and unscheduled visits).

+ Maintain professionalism and empathy when interacting with patients of all ages, including those with complex medical needs.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Haves:

+ Friendly, positive, and approachable personality.

+ Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations (20% of patients may be upset or mentally challenged).

+ Strong customer service skills with a welcoming attitude.

+ Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new software systems.

+ Reliable attendance and punctuality.

+ Previous retail or face-to-face customer service experience is highly valued.

Nice-to-Haves:

+ Experience in medical or insurance verification.

+ Familiarity with Durable Medical Equipment (DME) industry.

+ Call center or healthcare customer service experience.

Environment

+ Patient-facing role in a clinic specializing in Prosthetics, Orthopedics, and Mastectomies.

+ Most patients have Medicaid with multiple HMO plans; ability to differentiate between benefit packages is essential.

+ Approximately 50% phone work and 50% clerical duties.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lansing, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
