Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a Senior Project Manager Transportation with 15 plus years of experience to join our growing team in New Haven or Hartford, Connecticut. This role is ideal for an experienced transportation professional who enjoys leading complex highway and roadway projects, mentoring others, and building trusted client relationships.
In this role you’ll work alongside a collaborative and diverse group of engineers, planners, and project managers on high-profile and transformative transportation projects across Connecticut and the Northeast. Previous projects that Stantec’s Connecticut team successfully delivered includes Seaview Ave, Bridgeport; West Broad Street, Stratford; Crystal Lake Road, Groton; Broad Street, Manchester. Upcoming projects include the Route 7/15 Interchange Final Design and River Gateway Feasibility Study.

Key Responsibilities – What Will You Be Doing?
As a Senior Project Manager, you will provide both technical and project leadership including overseeing delivery, managing budgets and schedules, mentoring developing professionals, and helping shape the future of Stantec’s transportation practice in the region.
Project & Technical Leadership
- Serve as Project Manager, Technical Lead, and Engineer of Record for highway and roadway infrastructure projects.
- Lead project teams through all phases of planning, design, and delivery to ensure quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide technical direction and sound engineering judgment on complex design challenges.
- Perform and oversee quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) for assigned projects and peer reviews.
Project Management
- Plan, organize, and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Monitor project performance and proactively address risks, changes, and resource needs.
- Coordinate work among internal teams, subconsultants, contractors, and vendors.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary point of contact with clients, agencies, and stakeholders.
- Lead and participate in meetings with clients, municipalities, CTDOT, and regulatory agencies.
- Support project approvals, permitting, and coordination with local, state, and federal agencies.
Mentorship & Team Development
- Supervise and mentor developing professionals, supporting both technical growth and career development.
- Review team deliverables and provide constructive feedback and guidance.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team environment.
Business Development
- Support business development efforts, including Statements of Qualifications (SOQs), proposals, and client interviews.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and technical approaches for pursuits of all sizes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients across Connecticut.
Capabilities and Credentials: What Will You Need to Succeed?
- Extensive experience in highway planning, roadway design, and transportation infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary teams through all phases of project delivery.
- Experience working with CTDOT and Connecticut municipalities, including knowledge of policies, procedures, and standards.
- Familiarity with environmental documentation and agency coordination for permits and approvals.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to think creatively, anticipate challenges, and develop practical solutions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE); Connecticut licensure preferred (or ability to obtain).
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive engineering experience.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

**Pay Transparency:** In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
**Benefits Summary:** Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
