    Duties Description The New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) is looking for a creative, innovative leader who can execute strategic decisions to serve as Director of the Developmental Disabilities State Operations Office in Region 6 (DDSOO 6 - Bernard Fineson- Queens and Long Island Developmental Disabilities Service Office). This position serves at the pleasure of the Commissioner of OPWDD. The Director of the Region will oversee supports and services for Individuals who reside in both Long Island and Bernard Fineson. The ideal candidate for this position will share OPWDD's commitment to advocating on behalf of people with developmental disabilities as well as advancing and enhancing services and supports, provide input and guidance with policy reviews, work collaboratively with Stakeholders, move forward with OPWDD's Cultural Linguistic Competency mission, and the best supports and services are provided to the individuals within region 6. In line with our dedication to "Putting People First," they will also provide leadership, commitment, and support to a diverse workforce. Driven by the mission, vision, and values of OPWDD, the Director will collaborate with both stakeholders and sister agencies to direct an integrated program operations strategy within DDSOO 6. The Director will have responsibility for the operation and continuous quality improvement of community-based state operated residential, day program, and employment services. The Director promotes the Commissioner's vision of system reform and transparency, while coordinating and overseeing ongoing state-provided services and supports delivered within the region. The Director's charge is the regional oversight to ensure world-class performance in meeting region's citizens with developmental disabilities and their families. The Director will supervisor both Deputy Directors and Bridge Deputy Director along several high level clinicians. Travel is required for this position.The Director is also responsible for identifying and advancing regional priorities while implementing statewide policies and strategies. In partnership with voluntary service providers, the Director will promote innovative, individualized, community-based solutions within the region that will empower Individuals with developmental disabilities to live richer lives. Additionally, Director will collaborate in the development of enterprise solutions and consistency throughout the state in strategic core business operations. Director assures that the DDSOO maintains regulatory compliance, billing standards and ensures quality services are delivered to the individuals supported in region 6 residential, Family Care, Clinic and day program settings.     Minimum Qualifications Non-Competitive: a bachelor’s degree in a mental hygiene discipline; hospital, business, or public administration; or other area closely related to health care, behavioral or social science, statistics, or quantitative, research; and ten years of administrative, management, or supervisory experience in a mental hygiene, health, or human services setting, five years of which must have been at a managerial level, including working at a leadership level with responsibility for fiscal and program administration.Substitutions: a master’s degree in one of the above fields may substitute for one year of general experience; and a license to practice medicine in New York State or Canada may substitute for two years of general experience described above.
