    Required Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience

     

    Preferred Qualifications:Degree or certification in a quantitative or analytical discipline (e.g., data science, statistics, computer science, research methodology), or a related field such as education or social sciences.

     

    Higher education and/or student affairs experience.

     

    Strong experience in data analytics, assessment, research, measurement, student success, and/or statistics.

     

    Experience conducting data analysis with statistical packages (Stata, R, SPSS, etc.); ideally with education, student success, and/or outcomes-related data.

     

    Experience with both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.

     

    Experience developing and implementing surveys.

    Job Description:

    If so, the Office of Assessment, Research, and Divisional Effectiveness (OARDE) in the Division of Student Affairs is seeking qualified applicants for a Data Analyst II to conduct research and provide data analysis for divisional and institutional leaders and decision makers. The Division of Student Affairs supports students’ development, engagement, and learning outside the classroom, and this position will work with staff to collect, analyze, and report on data to tell the story about the effect division programs and services have on students.

    What You'll Do:

    + Collect and analyze both qualitative and quantitative data.

    + Prepare reports and conduct analyses using a variety data sources and tools (e.g. MS Excel, Power BI, R, SPSS, Stata).

    + Compile data for internal and external audiences.

    + Maintain and create new data visualizations for division staff and the university community.

    + Analyze divisional and institutional data and survey results.

    + Provide support in compiling, cleaning, managing, and analyzing data to inform divisional and University practice and policy discussions.

    + Respond to ad hoc requests.

     

    We are seeking a colleague who has a commitment to and understanding of how the co-curriculum enhances student success, and who possesses critical thinking skills to ensure consistency and accuracy of methods employed. The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail and possess the ability to explain data analyses to multiple audiences with differing levels of understanding.

     

    The Data Analyst II will have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and must have the capacity to work well in an environment where priorities may shift. They should be able to develop, formulate, and design new methods, procedures, or systems using old approaches only as conceptual foundations, and be able to exercise excellent judgment, initiative, and ingenuity to deal with factors not easily evaluated, to interpret results, and coordinate the work of others. This position will interface and build relationships with other data analysts/users on campus.

     

    This is an onsite position at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.

     

    Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.

    About OARDE:

    The Office of Assessment, Research, and Divisional Effectiveness in the Division of Student Affairs leads systematic and integrated efforts to explore the effect of student affairs programs, services, and operations on students and student-level outcomes.
