Position Description
The Mechanical Project Support (MPS) Manager is responsible for managing, planning, and directing an Operations Coordinator, 3 regional mechanical maintenance teams and one machine shop. The mechanical maintenance teams and the machine shop are led by a Crew Leader that supervises five to six Mechanic Specialists. Our MPS crews provide exceptional service to Operations with both planned and emergent maintenance of natural gas compressor units and associated equipment. The primary geographical coverage areas are Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska and Wyoming.
The preferred office locations for the Mechanical Project Support Manager also include Carr, Colorado, or Pueblo in CO and Rawlins Wyoming but the position could office out of other Kinder Morgan locations within the coverage area based on business need, the candidate’s location, and office availability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
As a manager of multiple work teams, incumbent will manage or assist in direction of the work group to include mentoring/coaching employees, conducting performance reviews, participating in employment and disciplinary decisions, and providing associated training. The manager will also interface with internal customers to align planned and emergent work with Operational needs. The manager will be expected to:
+ Ensure the implementation, enforcement, and compliance with all company guidelines, policies and procedures.
+ Review progress, direct changes in priorities and schedules as needed to assure work is completed in an efficient and timely manner.
+ Responsible for evaluating bids and making suggestions to Operations
+ Responsible for the development and implementation of job plans and cost-effective work procedures.
+ Responsible for developing and managing Capital and O&M yearly budget.
+ Responsible for monthly budget reporting on involved projects and forecasting.
+ Assist internal customers in developing annual Capital and O&M budgets, including, but not limited to, estimating potential mechanical projects.
+ Ensures projects are completed within prescribed budgets and time constraints.
+ Develop short and long-term plans, goals and objectives within the Mechanical Project Support organization.
+ Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns.
+ As a company representative, willingly interact with Operations, Engineering, Project Management, Gas Control, customers, suppliers, and contractors.
+ Promote and maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
Position Requirements
Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or associated studies OR at least High School diploma/GED and 10 years of mechanical maintenance field experience or pipeline operations.
Experience/Specific Knowledge:
+ Must have at least 7 years of effective management or supervisory experience in gas pipeline operations, mechanical maintenance activities, or pipeline engineering.
+ Extensive knowledge of natural gas reciprocating, turbine, and electric driven compressor units and other plant equipment.
+ Ability to use manuals, specifications, drawings, and other resources to diagnose and correct mechanical problems
Certifications/Licenses/Registration:
+ Must possess and maintain a valid driver license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
Competencies/Skills/Abilities:
+ Ability to manage multiple maintenance teams across a large region.
+ Demonstrated intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point).
+ Ability to recruit, develop, and retain effective team members.
+ Ability to develop effective relationships and promote teamwork, foster open expression of ideas and opinions, provide and accept constructive feedback.
+ Ability to foster effective relationships with Division Management, Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Gas Control, MPS management and peers.

Physical Demands:
This position requires manual dexterity and visual acuity, as well as the ability to:
+ Lift, pull, push, and carry up to 50 lbs.
+ Climb and work from ladders, catwalks, staging, and platforms.
+ Ascend and descend slopes and ditches.
+ Work in adverse weather and/or extreme temperature conditions.
Working Conditions:
+ Travel is expected 20% - 30% of the time, interfacing with associated crews and key stakeholders.
+ Required to carry a company-provided cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
+ The successful candidate will be required to clear a DOT drug screen and a complete background check after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
Preferred Education and experience:
+ Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or associated studies
+ Knowledge of the company procedures and government regulations relevant to pipeline operations.
+ Knowledge and experience with high pressure gas, processing equipment, pumps and reciprocating or gas turbine engines and compressors.
The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed. This position may perform other duties as assigned.
Pay range: $136,000- $204,000 per year. This position may include a discretionary annual incentive plan. Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.
