    Summary Statement

    Support community recreation and be part of the game! The Hockey Official/ Scorekeeper plays an important role in Parks and Recreation league hockey by accurately maintaining game scores and statistics and serving as an off-ice official. This position is open to all interested individuals ages 15 and older and is ideal for those who enjoy working in a team-oriented, fast-paced recreational sports environment. Games last up to 90 minutes and are held year-round, primarily during evenings and weekends. This position helps ensure a fair, organized, and positive experience for all participants.

    Essential Functions

    + Operates time clocks and score boards for hockey games. Maintains records of goals, assists, penalties, shots on net, and related items as required.

    + Acts as an Off-Ice Official as described by USA Hockey Rule Book.

    + Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.

    Requirements

    Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training

    + Six months experience playing or coaching league hockey games, or related experience.

    Knowledge of:

    + Rules and regulations described in the USA Hockey Rule Book; and basic math and statistics.

    Ability to:

    + Record scores and related statistics.

    + Interpret and apply various rules and regulations.

    + Maintain good relations with coaches, parents, and players.

    + Display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations.

    + Communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance.

    + Complete assignments in a timely fashion.

    + Understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations.

    + Perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable. accommodation.

    Special Requirements

    Applicants must be able to pass:

    + City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

    Physical Efforts

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is rarely lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds. Also, the employee is rarely pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. The noise level is always moderate and frequently loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.

    Working Environment

    The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions and extreme temperatures. This position works: evenings and weekends on a regular basis.

     

    19-Hour Temporary

     

    All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.

     

    4-Month Temporary

     

    All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.

     

    8-Month Seasonal

     

    In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.

     

    9-Month Temporary

     

    In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
