    Hello, we're The Arc Oneida-Lewis

    Founded in 1954, The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter is a premier human services agency in the healthcare field. Our agency was started by parents who envisioned a rich, full life for their children with disabilities, inclusive of their community. Many of those families still champion these efforts today. The Arc, Oneida-Lewis is one of thirty-six chapters of The Arc New York statewide organization. We employ 700 staff and support over 1,400 people throughout Oneida and Lewis Counties. We provide a full spectrum of educational, vocational, employment, residential, family support, guardianship, respite, recreational, and day habilitation for people with developmental disabilities and their families. We own and operate integrated businesses in our community, including our Progress Industries business enterprise, a leading supply chain partner for small and large companies regionally and nationally.

     

    What's your day like?

     

    As a new College Works Life Skills Assistant at The Arc Oneida-Lewis, you can expect each day to be filled with engaging and rewarding activities. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate life skills workshops that empower individuals and enhance their daily living abilities. You’ll work closely with participants, guiding them through various hands-on learning experiences that promote independence and confidence. Daily tasks may include planning activities, preparing materials, and conducting group sessions that foster communication and teamwork. Your schedule will be Monday to Friday, allowing for a consistent routine that enhances productivity and teamwork.

     

    Each day will bring new challenges and opportunities for problem-solving, ensuring that you remain energized and driven to make a positive impact. Embrace the excitement of bringing innovative solutions to life skills training while contributing to a supportive community atmosphere!

    What you need to be successful

    To thrive as a College Works Life Skills Assistant at The Arc Oneida-Lewis, you’ll need a unique blend of skills that align with our core values.     + One year of experience working with people with disabilities is preferred

    + Valid NYS driver's license and reliable transportation

    + Associates Degree or higher preferred
