    About this Role

     

    NorthStar Energy Services is seeking an experiencedSenior Estimatorto join our team in theChannelview, TXoffice. This role will support estimating efforts for industrial projects within the Oil & Gas midstream and downstream sectors, with a strong emphasis on mechanical and piping scopes, as well as civil and structural work.

     

    The Senior Estimator will play a key role in developing accurate, competitive cost estimates for EPC and design-build projects. This position requires a deep understanding of industrial construction methods, material takeoffs, labor productivity, and cost controls.

     

    What You'll Do

     

    + Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, and mechanical construction scopes, with primary emphasis on piping and mechanical systems

    + Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, and equipment pricing using Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Excel

    + Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents to ensure accurate and complete estimates

    + Collaborate with project management, engineering, and construction teams to validate assumptions and execution strategies

    + Develop pricing for lump sum, unit rate, and time-and-materials proposals

    + Develop construction schedules in Microsoft Project

    + Analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes, ensuring alignment with project scope and estimating standards

    + Identify project risks, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities

    + Support bid reviews, estimate reconciliations, and post-bid handoff meetings

    + Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and productivity benchmarks

     

    What You'll Bring

     

    + Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field. OR 10 years experience in lieu of degree.

    + 10+ years of estimating experience in industrial construction, with a strong focus on mechanical/piping scopes

    + Proven experience estimating midstream and downstream Oil & Gas projects (terminals, plants, pipelines, facilities)

    + Strong working knowledge of civil and structural construction methods and cost drivers

    + Advanced proficiency with Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Excel

    + Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometrics, civil drawings, and structural plans

    + Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

    + Experience supporting EPC or design-build project delivery models, preferred

    + Minimal travel for pre-bid site visits.
