GENERAL PURPOSE: Operate flatbed die cutter (Bobst, Iijima, Heidelberg, Sanwa, etc.)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

\u2022 Sets up feeder, feed table, lock dies, internal stripper, blanker section, and operates flatbed die cutter.

\u2022 Performs preventive maintenance, including minor repairs, adjusting/modifying dies, and the use of matrix when necessary.

\u2022 Uses pre-make-ready tables.

\u2022 Nicks and prepares dies.

\u2022 Levels the cutting by using different thickness spotting tapes.

\u2022 Performs quality checks, approvals, and in process inspections.

\u2022 Prepares loads, loads material, and removes loads of material from the machine.

\u2022 Maintains die inventory.

\u2022 Trains assistants.

\u2022 Performs other job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

\u2022 Must be able to use pre-make ready table.

\u2022 Four years\u2019 experience operating flatbed die cutter (Bobst, Iijima, Heidelberg, Sanwa, etc) or similar equipment preferred.

\u2022 Demonstrates knowledge of size and location when beginning the nicking process.

\u2022 Demonstrates ability to recognize common packaging defects (cracking, sharpness, heavy scores, line-up, tearing, flat scores, one-sided scores, light cutting, loose fibers, pressure marks, etc.).

\u2022 Experience running board stock and paper on flatbed die cutters.

\u2022 Demonstrates ability to use rulers, calipers, micrometers and other inspection equipment.

\u2022 Demonstrates ability to use samples and materials, such as vinyls, spinjets and approved samples, to verify job accuracy and quality.

\u2022 Demonstrates ability to make a spotting sheet.

\u2022 Demonstrates ability to make stripping boards.

\u2022 Demonstrates knowledge of when and what type of rubber or cork to use.

\u2022 Demonstrates knowledge of how to use benders, bridgers, miters and cutters for reknifing.

\u2022 Demonstrates knowledge of adjustment process for tonnage on cutting.

\u2022 Demonstrates knowledge of when to use underlay or begin spotting.

\u2022 Demonstrates knowledge of operating the cube/manual tonnage.

\u2022 Demonstrates knowledge of 1mm counter plates.

\u2022 Demonstrates knowledge of using register pins for counters.

\u2022 Demonstrates knowledge and ability to repair dies by modifying creasing rules and cutting knives.

\u2022 Demonstrates knowledge of blind make-readies and what it entails.

\u2022 Demonstrates knowledge of counter plates, matrix, spotting tape, and underlaying.

\u2022 Must have basic personal computer skills including experience with e-mail and word processing.

\u2022 Must be able to meet the minimum requirement on a mechanical test.

\u2022 Must be able to maintain good attendance.

\u2022 Must be willing to work overtime as needed.

\u2022 Must pass color vision and color hue test.

\u2022 Must pass basic reading test.

\u2022 Must be able to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
