Description
Delivery Manager
The Delivery Manager is responsible for the efficient delivery of Sunset Distributing's products through managing the Delivery Supervisors and the daily needs of the Delivery Department. The Delivery Manager ensures effective operation while optimizing productivity. With a focus on safety and DOT compliance, leadership and execution are a must for this position. The Delivery Manager facilitates the development of new CDL holders through managing the company's Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) program.
Responsibilities
+ Partners with HR in the hiring process to ensure achievement of budgeted staffing needs
+ Manages, leads, and motivates Delivery Supervisors and delivery team members
+ Trains Delivery Supervisors on processes and procedures necessary to maximize profit and productivity
+ Ensuring oversight of core internal audit guidelines and best practices, including cash handling, time-card management, fuel card management, and DOT compliance.
+ Manages the delivery and merchandising of all presold orders in the assigned territory via the Delivery Supervisors, to ensure that customer service and company standards are maintained at satisfactory levels while looking for continuous improvement opportunities
+ Monitors department key business indicators, including the number of cases delivered, finished product loss, percentage of orders delivered, field observations completed, etc.
+ Establish and support behaviors that ensure a safe working environment and ensure that delivery team members are trained in safe working techniques.
+ Manage and lead effective communication with sales, warehouse, and route-planning teams.
+ Ability to manage and solve diverse department needs in a fast-paced environment.
+ Plan and execute department meetings
+ Manage the company's Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) program
Qualifications
+ High school diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
+ Must currently possess a Class A CDL and the ability to obtain a DOT medical card or be able to obtain these within 90 days or less from the time of hire
+ Good driving record with few or no infractions
+ Prior leadership and management experience required
+ General computer usage knowledge, experience with software including PDFs, web browsers, and Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. Will use & troubleshoot smart devices including phones & tablets, as well as ability to learn Company-selected software • Must demonstrate good planning techniques and organizational skills
+ Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance standards pertaining to a short-haul motor carrier
+ Must be able to lift and merchandise products up to 60 pounds and be able to use various material handling equipment (hand cart, manual and electric pallet jacks, etc) and demonstrate proper techniques to others
