    Delivery Supervisor

     

    The Delivery Supervisor is responsible for executing the efficient delivery and merchandising of Sunset Distributing products through the work of delivery team members. The Delivery Supervisor ensures the effective selection and onboarding of new delivery team members, responds to customer issues, and optimizes route efficiency. Effective leadership, adhering to safety protocols, and management of Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance are essential for this position. The Delivery Supervisor participates in and facilitates the development of new Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders through the company's Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) program.

    Responsibilities:

    + Partners with HR in the hiring process, including interviewing and selection.

    + Manage, lead, and motivate delivery team members, including Drivers, Assistant Drivers, Transfer Drivers & Mechanics.

    + Trains delivery team members on processes and procedures necessary to maximize productivity

    + Ensures internal audit guidelines and procedures are followed, including cash handling, time-card management, and fuel card management.

    + Manages the delivery and merchandising of all presold orders in the assigned territory, ensuring customer service and company standards are maintained at satisfactory levels while coaching delivery team members on improvement opportunities.

    + Monitors key business indicators, including the number of cases delivered, finished product loss, percentage of orders delivered, field observations completed, etc.

    + Establish & support behaviors that ensure a safe working environment and ensure that delivery team members are trained in safe working techniques.

    + Use effective communication to partner with sales, warehouse, and route planning teams.

    + Multitask to manage and solve diverse daily route needs in a fast-paced environment.

    + Manage and communicate credential needs and delivery team notifications.

    + Daily monitoring of delivery authorization and payment compliance with the Finance departmen.

    Qualifications

    + High school diploma or GED required, Associate's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.

    + Must currently possess a Class A CDL and the ability to obtain a DOT medical card or be able to obtain these within 90 days or less from the time of hire

    + Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance standards

    + Good driving record with few or no infractions

    + Prior leadership and management experience preferred

    + General computer usage knowledge required. Experience with software, including PDFs, web browsers, and Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred. Required to use & troubleshoot smart devices, including phones & tablets, as well as the ability to learn Company-selected software

    + Must be able to lift and merchandise products weighing up to 60 pounds and be able to use various material handling equipment (hand cart, manual and electric pallet jacks, etc) and demonstrate proper usage and techniques to others.
