Description

Wheeler Machinery Company is seeking a skilled Shop Service Technician to join our Hurricane branch. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and components. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as PM Services, filter replacements, tire checks, and fluid checks.

+ Replacing faulty components, including engines, transmissions, and hydraulic lines / cylinders.

+ Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on equipment such as excavators, loaders, and bulldozers.

+ Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot complex machinery malfunctions.

+ Repair or replace parts such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, turbos, and undercarriage components.

+ Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring tools and equipment are stored properly.

+ Reading and interpreting technical manuals and schematics in SIS to support repair work.

+ Follow safety protocols and learn the importance of maintaining safe working conditions.

+ Ensure that equipment is operating according to manufacture standards.

+ Keep detailed records of all maintenance, repairs, and services performed on equipment to correctly write service reports.

+ Attend all hands-on training and attend relevant technical classes to further develop your skills & knowledge.

+ Perform other tasks as assigned by Team Leader or Supervisor to support the team.

Required Qualifications:

+ High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or technical education in heavy equipment repair is a plus.

+ Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician.

+ Extensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in heavy machinery.

+ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

+ Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

+ At least 5-6 years of Caterpillar experience repairing machines.

+ Knowledge of Caterpillar software and programs a plus.
