Purpose and Scope:
The Senior FSEU Manager of System Engineering reports directly to the Director of Facility Operations & Maintenance and manages the System Engineering Department overseeing assignments to support project development, design, operations, installation, and maintenance of Facilities, Systems, Equipment and Utilities (FSEU). These systems are located at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) – at locations throughout the site, including at/around space flight hardware processing facilities, launch pad support buildings and facilities, engineering and administrative support buildings and other types of industrial and related support facilities. The Senior FSEU Manager, System Engineering is responsible for providing strategic coordination and prioritization of FSEU engineering, and mission-based support of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Spaceport customers at KSC. This consists of but not limited to communicating and working side-by-side with multiple internal departments, NASA representatives, outside vendors and contractors to meet customer expectations, while meeting all contractual requirements associated within the department workload.
Job Duties and Essential Responsibilities:
+ Lead, manage, train, mentor Engineering personnel to meet contractual workload requirements and the constant tempo of change due to the NASA and Spaceport mission. May manage supervisors.
+ Reviews and approves purchase requests for materials, equipment, and services in support of the engineering of assigned FSEU assets.
+ Ensure and forecast engineering requirements, manage supporting personnel, and on-call for all Spaceport launches and mission essential operations, 24/7/365.
+ Recruit, interview, evaluate skills and select new employees.
+ Monitor and evaluate strategic technical performance and metrics.
+ Perform a range of design development, analysis, or review tasks without supervision and works on significant, complex, and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.
+ Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends related to engineering and maintain a career development program for the department.
+ Provide onsite technical guidance as needed for new or existing equipment installation and/or modifications that require electrical engineer expertise and exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to obtain results.
+ Direct problem resolution efforts and root cause analysis; complete audits as required to maintain high quality standards; identify trends and compare strategic goals.
+ Review and respond to NASA Contract Performance Assessment Report (CPAR) reports and implement resolutions as needed.
+ Serve as primary point of contact when there are customer issues related to customer service, or accidents and mishaps on-site. This includes any issues on-site at client facilities.
+ Accountable for the fleet of company vehicles used within department. Ensure efficient and safe use by all employees.
+ Conduct regular field audits of subordinates to ensure safe work habits, quality of work, and efficiency expectations are being met.
+ Review technical expertise for technical anomalies as they arise. Resolve and document failure anomalies regarding assigned equipment.
+ Prepare and review Technical Anomaly reports and presentations documenting problems, concerns, and resolutions for assigned equipment to the Engineering Review Board.
+ Oversee development of technical proposals, statements of work and/or provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
+ Perform all other related duties as assigned by Director.
Required Education/Certifications/Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related engineering field with 18+ years of job-related experience or Master’s degree in Engineering, or related electrical field with 16+ years of job-related experience.
+ Twelve (12) years Supervisor, Management or Leadership experience in Engineering or Construction Management and/or Maintenance or a related field
Required Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Good communication, and analytical skills.
+ Experience and/or trained in the use of a work management tool such as Maximo, Akwire or similar software desired.
+ Knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (i.e. CADD, AutoCAD, MicroStation, SKM, ETAP, PLC interface software, etc.).
+ Possesses broad expertise and unique knowledge of engineering and contributes to development of company objectives and principles and achieves goals in creative and effective ways.
+ Ability to exercise sound judgement and reason.
+ Strong ability to use data and analysis to make fast data-driven decisions.
+ Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals.
+ Ability to read and understand schematics & blueprints.
+ Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
+ Must possess general knowledge of office routines to include scheduling, and general office administration.
+ Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

+ Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain required clearances/badges as required by program and position
+ Must have the ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written in an effective manner.
+ Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards; occasional lifting to 20 pounds; constant sitting with use of computer terminal; constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents; constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication; constant mental alertness; must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines. Field work will consist primarily of site walk downs in support of design projects and system trouble shooting Site hazard training and Personal Protective Equipment are provided.
