Position Summary
The Azure Infrastructure Architect serves as the organization’s trusted technical authority and strategic leader for Azure and hybrid cloud infrastructure. This role provides strategic leadership for long-term architecture, governance, automation, and reliability standards that support enterprise operations and innovation. It establishes mechanisms and patterns that drive operational excellence across technology teams, ensuring alignment with Grant PUD’s security, compliance, and financial requirements.
Essential Functions
Design, guide, and oversee enterprise-scale cloud frameworks and governance models spanning identity, networking, compute, and data.
+ Establish organization-wide standards for security, compliance, and automation adopted across all teams.
+ Lead modernization and multi-cloud initiatives, balancing innovation with long-term sustainability.
+ Partner with senior IT and business leaders to translate strategic objectives into durable, scalable, secure cloud solutions, while leading architecture reviews and defining technical guardrails that ensure reliability, availability, and cost efficiency.
+ Translate strategic goals into resilient infrastructure blueprints supporting business growth and continuity.
+ Mentor senior engineers and cultivate the technical community across departments.
+ Serve as the executive-level technical advisor for cloud direction, cost optimization, and vendor strategy.
+ Author and maintain reference architectures, whitepapers, and technical standards used to guide enterprise best practices.
+ Collaborate with cybersecurity, network, and infrastructure teams to ensure alignment and integrated controls.

+ Understand and adhere to compliance requirements for this position that may include laws, regulations, security guidelines, Grant PUD policies & procedures.
+ Actively participate in all aspects of our safety program, including but not limited to:
+ Following all safety policies and procedures;
+ Alerting supervisors and coworkers to unsafe or hazardous working conditions;
+ Reporting any safety incidents or close calls within 24 hours to your supervisor; and
+ Accepting feedback from supervisors and coworkers regarding your own safety performance.
Specific Functions:
+ Define multi-year Azure roadmaps for identity, network fabric, and automation platforms.
+ Guide adoption of IaC frameworks, policy-as-code, and governance automation through CI/CD.
+ Lead incident post-mortems and systemic resilience reviews; champion root-cause prevention.
+ Evaluate new Azure services and emerging technologies and provide readiness recommendations.
+ Collaborate with finance and procurement teams to mature FinOps and budget governance.
+ Represent Grant PUD in vendor councils, technical alliances, and cross-agency collaboration forums.
+ Continuously refine documentation, templates, and education materials to scale knowledge sharing.
+ Support lifecycle planning and capacity forecasting for cloud infrastructure services.
Required Qualifications: (Education and Experience, License, and/or Certification)
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or two (2) additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
+ Ten (10) years of progressive experience in cloud architecture and operations.
+ Demonstrated leadership of large-scale, enterprise Azure programs or equivalent multi-cloud initiatives.
+ Deep expertise in Azure architecture, security, automation, and cost governance frameworks.
+ Proven ability to influence executive-level technology strategy and cross-team alignment.
Preferred Qualifications: (Education and Experience, License, and/or Certification)
+ Experience leading enterprise governance or modernization initiatives across multiple business units.
+ Experience mentoring or guiding engineering or technical staff.
+ Advanced knowledge of Azure landing zones, policy orchestration, and compliance automation.
+ Strong background in hybrid identity management and zero-trust implementation.
+ Proven record of mentoring technical leaders and establishing long-lasting process improvements.
