Job Description
The Kinetic Group is a world leader in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of small caliber ammunition under the iconic brands B&P, CCI, Federal Premium, Fiocchi, HEVI-Shot, Remington and Speer. We have domestic ammunition manufacturing facilities in Minnesota, Idaho, Arkansas, and Missouri, and service law enforcement, government agencies and sporting enthusiasts throughout the world. Today, The Kinetic Group is a part of the Ammo+ division of The Czechoslovak Group (CSG), which holds a diverse portfolio of companies in the defense, security, automotive, aerospace and rail industries.
We are seeking a Product Development Engineer to lead product development programs for handgun ammunition.
This position reports to the Manager of Product Development - Pistol and is based out of our Anoka office.
What you’ll do:
+ Provide overall project management and leadership for successful completion of handgun new product development projects. This includes project documentation, maintaining program budget and schedule, product and tooling design, process development, quality specifications, raw material procurement, testing, and production.
+ Communicate and work effectively with engineering technicians to convey requirements and goals for new products.
+ Work and communicate effectively with cross functional teams to convey product goals and process requirements for successful launch of new products. Includes equipment and process optimization, troubleshooting, establishing bills of material, and scheduling support.
+ Clear problem solving and failure analysis capability to resolve design and production issues.
+ Support Marketing team with technical data review, asset creation, and attendance at trade and consumer shows as a subject matter expert.
+ Initiate and maintain vendor and outside technical resources as needed to be successful in developing new processes and products.
+ Thorough understanding and broad application of technical standards, principles, theories, and techniques relating to small arms ammunition and other related disciplines is desired but not essential.
Experience you bring:
+ B.S. in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry
+ 0-6+ years of related experience or equivalent technical training or experience.
+ Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
+ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
+ Hands-on problem-solving and mechanical aptitude desired.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
+ Personal computer skills including Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point. Experience with Minitab or similar software preferred.
You might have:
+ Background in ammunition development, ballistics, firearms, and related processes.
+ Experience related to military service, hunting, competitive shooting, and reloading.
+ CAD/CAM experience desired.
+ Experience using statistics to guide design direction and specification development.
+ Knowledge of advanced materials and processes.
**Physical Requirements:** Employee will be sitting, standing, and walking. Minor lifting of objects over 50 lbs, carrying, stooping, and kneeling. Some travel and work outdoors. Manual dexterity for computer work and writing. Hearing, speaking, and vision are required (with or without correction).
**Mental Requirements:** Must communicate effectively in verbal and written formats. Flexibility to effectively deal with a variety of people and situations and to handle interruptions and multiple tasks simultaneously. Quick thinking and problem solving to readily assimilate information. Ability to maintain tact and highly professional manners. Initiative to effectively complete tasks with little supervision. The ability to identify and appropriately handle confidential information.
**Equipment Used:** Telephone, calculator, personal computer, copy machine, printer, various hand tools and power tools, machining tools, ammunition loading equipment and firearms.
**Working Environment:** Work is done in an office environment, with some time spent in the manufacturing plant and ballistics lab. This exposure subjects incumbents to temperature changes, dirt, dust, noise, vibration, moving objects and mechanical parts, machine tool lubricant mists, equipment, and explosive hazards. Co-worker support, guidance, and reinforcement are readily available.
Work Environment:
Employee work assignments may include tasks working with and/or exposure to potentially hazardous areas, including flammables and explosives. Safety training is provided to all employees to ensure compliance with company and federal regulations.
Pay Range:
$65,800.00 - $92,100.00
The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
