    Westat is seeking a visionary and results-driven Vice President and Chief Growth Officer (CGO) to drive sustainable growth across its research, data, and consulting services. This executive will oversee strategic planning, business development, and communications efforts to expand Westat’s impact among its diverse client base. The CGO will embody Westat’s leadership competencies, fostering innovation, operational excellence, and a culture of integrity and inclusion.

    Job Responsibilities

    Growth Strategy & Execution

    • Lead enterprise-wide and targeted strategic planning and implementation of growth strategies that explore opportunities with new clients, markets, and capabilities and are aligned with Westat’s mission and long-term vision.

    • Identify and analyze market trends, client needs, and innovation opportunities to inform strategic direction.

    • Develop, monitor, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess progress on strategic initiatives.

    • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure alignment of growth initiatives with operational capacity and performance excellence.

    • Engage with business leaders to build and sustain strategic client relationships and partnerships to expand Westat’s portfolio and influence.

    Business Development & Capture Management

    • Oversee pipeline management, including identifying and tracking pursuits through the opportunity lifecycle, compiling and analyzing pipeline data, and presenting progress to executives, the Board, and the company.

    • Oversee capture and proposal operations, including ensuring adherence to standardized processes needed for the delivery of high quality, compliant proposals.

    • Oversee strategic pricing and proposal pricing staff and operations.

    • Oversee management of the company’s business development information assets, including proposals, resumes, and project and capability descriptions.

    Communications

    • Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies to enhance Westat’s brand visibility and thought leadership.

    • Ensure consistent, mission-aligned messaging across all platforms and audiences.

    • Provide staff and resources to effectively support the thought leadership needs of Westat subject matter and technical experts.

    • Represent the organization at industry events, government forums, and networking opportunities to promote visibility and engagement.

    • Oversee internal communications, including development and execution of key messaging to employees that is clear and consistent with company strategy and goals; also provides oversight to change management and culture building needs within the organization.

    Leadership & Development

    • Build and lead a high-performing growth team, including strategic planning, business development, capture, proposal, and communication professionals.

    • Mentor and develop team members to ensure effective performance and career progression.

    • Champion strategic partner, customer, and employee relations that promote value-based business development and external revenue growth.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree

    • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in business strategy, development or marketing in a government contracting environment

    • Proven success in executing strategic initiatives

    • Demonstrated ability to manage high-performing teams

     

    _This role is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with a preference for 3 days per week onsite in Bethesda, Maryland._
