We are searching for the best talent for a **Clinical Veterinarian** . _This role must be based within a commutable distance of Cincinnati, OH and will be required to be on-site 5 days per week_ . Relocation assistance may be available to qualified candidates.
**Purpose** : This position in Preclinical Operations is responsible for providing clinical veterinary support for the Animal Care and Use program at the Ethicon Endo Surgery animal facility. This position reports to the Attending Veterinarian (AV) and is the backup AV when required.
**You will be responsible for** :
+ Provide high quality veterinary care to research animals in support of J&J’s portfolio. Complete duties delegated by the Attending Veterinarian (AV).
+ Provide backup support for the AV by fulfilling the AV responsibilities specified in the applicable regulations, codes and guidelines.
+ Review or consult on research animal proposals submitted for IACUC review. Serve on a rotational basis to provide veterinary care coverage on weekends and holidays.
+ Maintain the relevant sections of the animal care program, SOPs, and training documents to assure the quality of site operations and regulatory compliance.
+ Interact with in preclinical personnel to understand their research needs, engaging them in a flexible and constructive manner to address matters of ethical review with a focus on 3Rs, humane endpoints and adverse effects.
+ Train colleagues in techniques and principles which promote 3Rs, in particular anesthesia and analgesia as well as reported in the literature and communicated at external meetings.
+ Assist in the conduct of internal audits and other inspections such as USDA and AAALAC.
+ Consult on animal model development to assist researchers as necessary.
+ Position will interface with AALAC and USDA employees during unannounced and schedule audits of the animal facility.
+ Person will handle low level budget management as well as Contractor people leadership.
**Qualifications / Requirements** :
+ Doctor of Veterinary Medicine/Veterinary Medical Doctor **required** .
+ 2+ years of experience in clinical veterinary medicine **required** ; regulated industry experience (Medical Device/Pharma/Consumer Goods) _strongly preferred_ .
+ Licensure in the State of Ohio or ability to gain licensure in State of Ohio within 6 months of hire **required** .
+ Sound understanding of applicable FDA, GLPs, GMPs, or equivalent/related international animal welfare guidelines, regulations, and requirements and AAALAC standards.
+ Experience with livestock/large animals in a research setting _strongly preferred_ .
+ Position may require approximate 10% travel.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$117,000.00 - $201,250.00
Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).
Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year
Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year
Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days
Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year
Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
