    Job Description

    Key Responsibilities

    Systems Operations & Maintenance

     

    Perform daily system health checks, log reviews, and performance monitoring across Linux (Amazon Linux 2) and Windows environments.

     

    Troubleshoot issues across OS, cloud, and application layers.

     

    Respond onsite during outages or critical incidents as required.

     

    Security, Compliance & Remediation

     

    Remediate Windows and Linux vulnerabilities, compliance gaps, and findings within AWS environments.

     

    Conduct system STIGs and security hardening as needed.

     

    Support compliance reviews and maintain documentation for audits.

     

    Cloud & Automation

     

    Support AWS operational tasks and cloud-native workloads.

     

    Assist with remediation activities in AWS infrastructure and services.

     

    Create and execute custom Bash scripts to automate system tasks and streamline operations.

     

    (Plus) Experience supporting Amazon Linux AL2 in AWS-native environments.

     

    Application Support & Engineering Collaboration

     

    Support workflows for custom applications — identifying relevant dashboards, components, and troubleshooting paths.

     

    Partner with engineering teams to understand system interactions and operational requirements (no need for deep app-level development knowledge).

     

    (Plus) Experience with MarkLogic is beneficial but not required.

     

    Cross-Platform Support

     

    Expand beyond Linux responsibilities to support growing Windows operational needs.

     

    Participate in multi-team coordination with team leads and cross-functional groups.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    4+ years in a Senior Linux Engineer or Linux SME-level role.

     

    Strong experience with Linux OS (preferably Amazon Linux 2).

     

    Working knowledge of Windows Server administration and troubleshooting.

     

    Hands-on AWS experience; ability to operate in cloud environments.

     

    Proficiency with Bash scripting and custom script development.

     

    Experience performing STIGs and supporting system compliance.

     

    Active TS Clearance with SCI and CI Poly eligibility.

     

    Ability to work onsite in Vienna, VA at least 3 times per week. AWS Certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect Associate, SysOps Administrator, or equivalent).

     

    Experience in hybrid on‑prem/cloud migrations.

     

    Familiarity with MarkLogic.

     

    Strong troubleshooting skills across OS, cloud, and application layers.

     

    Ability to operate in shifting environments and manage diverse workloads.
