Job Description

We are looking for a Data Scientist to work for a leader within energy industry.

You will be responsible for the following:

One of the major ones was through cost predictive analytics with Machine Learning. They took project level data and applied a machine learning model through adjustments and feature sets to produce the cost predictive outcomes. This led to all in cost per project through class 1/class 2 accuracy and they operationalized this in undergrounding and they will do this in other workstreams.

Schedule and trying to forecast milestone dates around data accuracy, explore ML for predictive analytics with scheduling on projects. If they know estimating date is this, what is the dependency date. Extrapolate beyond that what would be their execution start date. Another work stream they have started.

Cost predictive modeling: Existing model they can adapt and use

Scheduling Model: They have an initial model but will need to be tuned in the future, make enhancements and there could be opportunity to develop further

They will be the main person doing the R&D and be the one who helps with presentations to business. Articulate this information to high level key members (Directors and above). You will need to cross train individuals and write up documents for others to work from in the future.

Challenges: Their projects go multi-year, and they do not understand the potential total cost would be to PG&E cash flow requirements. They don’t have good clarity on how much a project will cost on cash flow requirements on multiyear projects. Goal is to get Class 1 / Class 2 in first year of a multiple year project. Insight into financials two years prior to when you would typically receive. Milestones are not up to date and they need to follow in sequence and lack of maintenance and if they can predict each milestone with accuracy they would be in a better place.

Skills and Requirements

• Data Scientist and creating predictive models and different types of models

• Jupiter and Python skills

• Experience with operationalization and seen value of those outcomes in Machine Learning (owned and developed)

o Experience creating multiple models you can highlight

• Understand tabular data and information

• Experience presenting to leadership on your processes and updates

• Strong command of languages like Python, R, and SQL for data manipulation and model development

• Experience with mathematics and statistics

• Linear Regression Models, Xtree boosts, Jupyter is what the client uses most but will be expected to know other ML models

• Understanding and full ray of modeling to ensure they can expand the current models • Palantir Foundry skills
