    Job Description

Insight Global is looking to hire a Civil/Structural SME to sit in a hybrid environment in Frederick or Gaithersburg, MD. This individual will ultimately be responsible for providing technical leadership, governance, and delivery assurance for civil and structural works across the Capital Project Delivery Process (CPDP) gated project system.

This individual will ultimately be responsible for:

    • Technical direction and leadership to ensure the appropriate specification, design, supplier selection, integration, and delivery of critical civil and structural packages (e.g., site development, foundations, frames, slabs, building envelope, seismic/wind design, floor loading, vibration control) in line with company requirements, GMP, and safety standards.

    • Technical governance to the project delivery organization throughout the project lifecycle for all civil and structural works, ensuring design compliance with company Global Engineering Standards, local/national codes, fire/life safety, SHE, GMP/GEP, and CPDP stage-gated assurance.

    • Technical support to the receiving organization to ensure that specified performance criteria for civil and structural assets (e.g., load ratings, vibration limits, fire resistance, maintainability) are met during start-up and early operation, including support for commissioning and qualification.

    • In addition to governing the design, specification, performance, and commissioning & qualification of the packages within their remit, SMEs will consciously also own and champion the overall Operational Lifecycle within their specialist areas.

Detailed Responsibilities for all Project Phases:

    • Technical leadership and governance:

o Define structural design basis and criteria: load cases (dead/live, equipment, thermal, wind, seismic), floor loading, vibration limits for sensitive equipment, differential settlement, and robustness.

o Translate company operational and GMP requirements into civil/structural specifications and drawings, including cleanroom envelopes, penetrations, maintenance access, segregations, and hygienic details.

o Lead design assurance reviews; challenge assumptions, manage deviations/risks, and drive value engineering (materials, modularization, constructability, sustainability).

    • Delivery and integration:

o Support FEED with site constraints, geotechnical investigations, preliminary structural schemes, equipment foundation strategies, and constructability/phasing plans.

o Coordinate structural interfaces with process/mechanical/electrical: anchorage, vibration isolation, pipe rack loads/deflections, penetrations, floor openings, fire protection, and blast/pressure relief (where applicable).

o Contribute to contractor/supplier technical assessments; recommend selections for structural steel, precast, concrete, piling, and specialty systems (e.g., vibration isolating floors).

    • Compliance and risk:

o Ensure company SHE and GMP requirements are embedded: safe access/egress, fall protection, fire resistance and compartmentation, cleanable surfaces and detailing, chemical spill containment, and structural resilience.

o Participate in SHE risk assessments; implement mitigations for construction staging, lifting, confined spaces, trenching, and working at height; address seismic/wind and progressive collapse risks.

    • Stakeholder engagement and handover

o Engage Production, Facilities/Engineering, QA, Validation, EHS, and Construction to align on floor loads, equipment layouts, access/maintenance needs, penetrations, and future expansion provisions.

o Define handover deliverables: as built structural models/drawings, calculations, materials certificates, inspection/test records, fireproofing certifications, vibration qualification reports, and O&M guidance.

    • Commissioning and qualification support:

o Support mechanical completion for civil/structural packages; witness reinforcement/anchor inspections, concrete pours, steel erection, bolting/welding inspections, and proof load/vibration tests.

o Provide technical approvals per CPDP stage gates for shipment (prefab elements), site installation, and readiness for equipment commissioning in structurally complete areas.

    • Operational lifecycle ownership:

o Champion total lifecycle cost: durability, corrosion protection, hygienic detailing, ease of cleaning, inspection access, and maintainability; plan for obsolescence and expansion joints/reserve capacities.

o Advise on calibration/maintenance access to structural elements (platforms, walkways), and storage of spares (anchors, fireproofing touch up materials).

    • Continuous improvement:

o Coach WPO and site teams on structural quality, concrete finishing for hygienic areas, penetrations and sealing, anchor installation, and documentation rigor.

o Capture lessons learned; update CPDP best practice for civil/structural design, seismic/wind strategies, vibration control, and constructability.

    Compensation:

    $75.00/hr to $85.00/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Employees in this role will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one of employment, including options for medical, dental, and vision insurance.
