    General Description (Purpose and Function):The Postdoctoral Associate supports research activities at the University, under the supervision of a faculty member, in order to advance their knowledge and/or be documented by scientific publications.

    Duties related to the College of Arts & Sciences:

    Applications are invited by the Department of Physics at the University of Miami for a Postdoctoral Associate to work in the laboratory of Prof. Vivek Prakash. The Postdoctoral Associate will carry out inter-disciplinary research in marine biophysics. The successful applicant will have a strong record of independent research and a background in experimental and/or computational biophysics, fluid mechanics, soft matter, or a related field. A doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Physics, Engineering, Bioengineering, Biology or a related field is required.     Primary Duties and Responsibilities:• Works and collaborates on studies related to field of study. • Ensures the design, development, execution and implementation of scientific research and/or development in collaboration with a research team. • Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories to potential inventions and products. • Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories. • Contributes to scientific literature and conferences, when appropriate. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must have excellent communication skills, oral and written. Must be detail oriented. Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):· Doctoral degree or equivalent in their specialty. Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):· No work experience is required.
