Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, WI is seeking a MAMMOGRAPHER TECHNOLOGIST - BREAST SONOGRAPHER to join our BREAST HEALTH CENTER team!
The Mammography Technologist/Breast Sonographer individual will perform mammography exams per MQSA and American College of Radiology (A.C.R.) standards. Performs medical imaging techniques and related procedures to demonstrate breast anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention by, or at the request of, a licensed physician.
Performs breast sonography procedures while exercising professional judgment in the performance of services. Demonstrates the ability to obtain high quality diagnostic images and analyze the findings. Provides the radiologist with diagnostic evidence along with pertinent clinical assessment in order for a final diagnosis to be made.
HOURS: .8 FTE/64 hours every two weeks working day shift, Monday-Friday
Experience/Qualifications
+ Knowledge of radiology standards and procedures as they relate to mammography procedures normally acquired through graduation of an approved radiology school, an associate’s degree in Radiology, or sufficient on the job training to meet licensure requirements and FDA Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) mandated requirements.
+ A minimum of one-year clinical experience in mammography is necessary to enhance and develop skills.
+ State of Wisconsin Licensed Radiographer license required.
+ Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire - All clinical personnel in identified job codes are required to maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training through independent study, online manikin and knowledge testing. An acceptable training program is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider course from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Program with AED. + ARRT(R)(M) certification desired.
+ Possesses and maintains certification in breast sonography (RT(R)(BS), or completed within 1 year of assuming position, desired.
+ Meets and maintains the FDA Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) Requirements.
+ Must have reading skills compatible with confirming patient identity and interpreting physician orders, and the ability to input and extract information from a computer.
+ Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress, and analytical skills necessary to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of mammography techniques and methods to obtain quality images.
+ Possesses a bility to deal with patients and the public in a cooperative, courteous and tactful manner, with good communication skills necessary to convey instructions to patients to gain cooperation and compliance, to gain necessary clinical information, and to convey patient information to nursing staff, physicians and co-workers.
