    Position Purpose

    Develops programs, procedures, and practices to efficiently support all outage management related activities. Provides coordination and direction as required to ensure that all activities associated with daily pre-outage and outage plant schedule are on track. Helps the Unit Outage Manager to ensure plant system outage, component outages, forced outages, and refueling outages are executed as safely, efficiently, and expediently as possible.

     

    Job Dimensions

     

    Supervisory Responsibility— Assist the Unit Outage Manager as required for HIT performance and outage coordinators if applicable.

     

    Budget Responsibility— Assist Unit Outage Manager with Outage Budget Plans.

    Principal Accountabilities

    The incumbent, acting with delegated authority of the Unit Outage Manager; provides direction to personnel and activities as required to ensure that all daily or outage efforts are performed as safely, efficiently, and expeditiously as possible; identifies priorities, and directs critical path efforts as required. Recommends schedule changes and enhancements to ensure overall goals are met.

     

    The incumbent coordinates development of refueling, forced outages, and planned maintenance schedules. Develops and coordinates planned system and component outages with all appropriate functions and departments; interfaces with respective managers to determine priorities, temporary remedial actions, and resolve conflicts or discrepancies as required.

     

    The incumbent is responsible for assuming the Unit Outage Manager's duties when directed, and other tasks as deemed appropriate.

     

    The incumbent is responsible for such activities as initiating and revising plant instructions, and providing feedback on corporate standards; providing input to the Unit Outage Manager for improvements in personnel performance, and providing input for process improvements.

     

    Directs the activities of the department outage coordinators and Operations, Maintenance and Modifications, Technical Support, Site Engineering, Materials, Radiological Protection, Chemistry, and Quality Assurance activities to ensure safe, efficient, and expeditious performance of all critical path efforts.

     

    Recommends schedule changes and enhancements to ensure overall goals are met.

     

    Evaluates/reviews site instructions and corporate standards and provides feedback for improvement.

     

    Evaluates planning, scheduling, outage performance and programs, and provides improvement methods.

     

    Performs tasks and oversees programs as directed by the Unit Outage Manager.

     

    Terminates any department activities which are not being carried out in accordance with applicable procedures, specification, regulation, requirements, or acceptable practices. Ensures the termination of any activity which jeopardizes personnel safety, equipment safety, or continued power generation.

    The following positions report directly to the incumbent:

    Special assignment of matrixed employees and HIT leaders from all departments for outage coordinators/contractors.

    Minimum Requirements

    Education– B.S. degree in engineering, scientific-related discipline or equivalent related experience.

     

    Experience - Four to six years of utility experience in areas such as maintenance, operations, engineering, technical support, quality assurance, construction, of which a minimum of two years is nuclear experience; two years supervisory experience is preferred.

     

    Certification/License, etc— Hold or have held an SRO license or certification is desirable.

     

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities— Should be knowledgeable of business practices, project management practices, and must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the outage team. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
