The Edge Application Technology Strategist will lead the vision and strategy for scalable platforms that enable edge computing capabilities across diverse applications. This role focuses on defining foundational architecture, frameworks, and services that support AI-driven functionalities, over-the-air updates, and condition monitoring at scale. Ensure platform consistency, interoperability, and long-term sustainability.
**What You Will Do** :
• **Platform Strategy** : Define and evolve the architecture for edge computing platforms, ensuring performance modularity and scalability.
• **Core Framework Development** : Establish reusable components and services for AI integration, OTA updates, and condition monitoring features.
• **Performance Optimization** : Design solutions that minimize end-to-end latency and optimize performance under tight resource constraints of embedded systems.
• **Technology Roadmap** : Drive platform innovation by evaluating emerging edge technologies and aligning them with organizational goals.
• **Cross-Functional Enablement** : Collaborate with hardware, software, and cloud architecture teams to ensure seamless platform integration.
• **Governance & Standards** : Define best practices, compliance requirements, and security standards for edge platforms.
**What You Will Have** :
• **Products and Services** : Knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.
• **Effective Communications** : Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
• **Technical Excellence** : Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
• **Technology Advising** : Knowledge of effective advisory methods and ability to provide valued information and advice to clients regarding products, technologies, services and solutions for a specific technology domain.
• **Influencing Through Expertise** : Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization.
• **Troubleshooting Technical Problems** : Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.
**Top Candidates Will Have** :
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or related field.
• 10+ years in platform architecture, edge computing, and embedded systems with proven strategic leadership.
• Expertise in edge AI frameworks, hardware acceleration, real-time systems and edge security
• Familiarity with IoT ecosystems, industrial edge platforms, and cloud-edge orchestration.
• Exceptional communication, collaboration, and strategic thinking abilities.
**Additional Information** :
• The location for this position is Mossville, IL. This role is on-site Monday to Friday.
• Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

Summary Pay Range:
$156,000.00 - $234,000.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
