What You Will Do
The Field Associate III is responsible for working with an internal team of Plant Breeding, Breeders, Research Scientists, and Field Operations to design, execute, and oversee the North America Plant Breeding Row Crop Research and Development efforts. Additionally, the role is responsible for continuous improvement and strategic initiative projects that transform the way row crop plant breeding research is conducted within the organization through the use of new equipment technologies, data analytics, and program management design.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
+ Be influential within the organization and with external partners;
+ Lead projects and initiatives at the hub and across the network;
+ Work independently and show expertise in particular working areas, provide a solid network;
+ Provide innovative solutions, high technical abilities;
+ Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of others;
+ Mentor other ARS employees;
+ Be accountable for business unit or project results through leadership and coordination across site strategy;
+ Prioritize and monitor projects to ensure completion within deadlines and budgets;
+ Build partnerships and share technical knowledge across sites;
+ Be involved in industry working groups and networks.
Required Qualifications:
+ PhD with minimum years relevant experience, OR MS with minimum of 2 years relevant experience, OR BS with minimum of 5 years relevant experience;
+ Valid Driver’s License;
+ Ability to lift up to 60 lbs;
+ Ability to obtain pesticide applicator license;
+ Ability to work extended hours during peak operational seasons;
+ CDL license or ability to obtain;
+ Demonstrative experience working in a collaborative team-based environment;
+ Capable of pulling, analyzing, and maintaining large data sets;
+ Basic understanding and passion for emerging trends in agriculture expertise with both standard MS office computer and software systems used in scientific data analysis, with the ability to quickly learn new software programs and tools;
+ Capable of utilizing multiple analytics platforms to articulate observations and areas in need of improvement experience with seed technology industry or plant breeding expertise with precision agriculture hardware and software;
+ Demonstrated capability of continuous improvements and new innovations through the work on project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Ability to obtain UAV license for operating drones;
+ BS in Agronomy, Life Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field;
+ Knowledge and experience with agricultural equipment and Row Crop production practices and history of leveraging that knowledge in a research environment;

_Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $_ _75250.40 - 112875.60 per year. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
