    Your role and responsibilities

    We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Systems Architect with deep expertise in full-stack Java development, industrial automation, and enterprise integration. This role will provide architectural leadership across manufacturing systems, including Rockwell Automation platforms, EDI pipelines, and custom GxP applications. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in GMP environments, validation, and regulatory compliance, along with the ability to mentor teams and drive modern development practices across the organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    Architecture & Technical Leadership

    * Define, design, and maintain end-to-end architecture for manufacturing systems, custom Java applications, Rockwell Automation integrations, and EDI data pipelines.

    * Lead the modernization and scalability of manufacturing solution platforms, ensuring reliability, performance, and compliance with regulatory standards.

    * Architect and implement full-stack Java solutions (UI, backend, APIs, databases) that support manufacturing, quality, and supply chain operations.

    * Establish architectural best practices, coding standards, integration patterns, and development pipelines.

    * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into scalable and compliant technical solutions.

    Coaching, Mentorship & Platform Leadership

    * Mentor, guide, and coach developers and technical leads across multiple development teams.

    * Provide technical direction for platform enhancements, DevOps processes, CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, and design reviews.

    * Champion engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement in development workflows.

    Manufacturing & Automation Integration

    * Oversee integration strategies with Rockwell Automation systems, MES platforms, PLC data flows, and industrial data acquisition tools.

    * Design and support EDI pipelines for manufacturing, supply chain, and ERP integrations.

    * Ensure seamless connectivity and data interoperability across enterprise manufacturing systems.

    Compliance, Validation & Regulatory Support

    * Work within GMP/GxP environments to ensure systems meet compliance, security, and audit requirements.

    * Develop and maintain SOPs, GRC processes, audit trail management, and validation documentation.

    * Lead or support CSV (Computer System Validation) activities for custom applications, integrated automation solutions, and system enhancements.

    * Ensure traceability and documentation accuracy to support inspections, audits, and regulatory submissions.

    * This job can be performed from anywhere in the US.

    Required technical and professional expertise

    * 14+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or enterprise architecture roles.

    * Strong expertise in full-stack Java development (Spring, Java EE, REST APIs, microservices, front-end frameworks).

    * Hands-on experience with Rockwell Automation systems, industrial automation, and manufacturing integration.

    * Proven experience designing and supporting EDI pipelines and enterprise data exchanges.

    * Deep familiarity with GMP, GxP, CSV, and regulatory environments (FDA, ISO, audit readiness).

    * Strong understanding of SOP development, GRC frameworks, audit trails, and validation documentation.

    * Ability to lead and mentor development teams, influence architecture decisions, and build scalable platforms.

    * Knowledge of cloud platforms, integration frameworks, data modeling, and modern DevOps tools.

     

    This job can be performed from anywhere in the US.

    Preferred technical and professional experience

    * Experience with MES systems (Rockwell FTPS/MES, PAS-X, Camstar, etc.).

    * Exposure to manufacturing ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Infor).

    * Experience in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or other regulated manufacturing industries.
