Duration: 10 months contract with possible extension

Job Description:

+ 5 years’ experience in a lab environment executing experiments. Clear and solid understanding of how to apply the scientific method.

+ Hands on experience with laser systems and mechanical troubleshooting. Mechanical troubleshooting and understanding of engineering principles is critical.

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the design, development, and continuous improvement of laser-based processes and systems.

+ Execute experimental plans, collect data, and document experimental settings and results.

+ Interact with internal customers to understand incoming laser processing requests and ensure timely delivery of sample parts.

+ Support laser system maintenance, including assembly, installation, debugging, and start-up of new laser setups.

+ Maintain accurate and up-to-date process and safety documentation.

+ Ensure lab cleanliness, safety, and organization while managing inventory levels and ordering supplies as needed.

+ Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

+ Minimum 5 years’ experience.

+ Basic understanding and application of standard engineering or scientific theories, concepts, principles, and techniques.

+ Proven ability to meet project deadlines and deliver technical solutions.

+ Hands-on experience with laser systems and mechanical troubleshooting.

+ Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and complete tasks with minimal supervision.

+ Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to ask questions, make recommendations, and raise concerns.

+ Excellent collaboration skills, fostering a positive and team-oriented work environment.

+ Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and a willingness to perform various tasks as needed.

+ Professional and regular communication with technicians, scientists, internal customers, department management, and suppliers.

+ Commitment to safety, including experience leading safety upgrades and conducting risk assessments in a lab environment.

+ Strong organizational and documentation skills.

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Teams.

Education:

+ Associates preferred, but not required.
