Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.

Summary:
Under the direction of the Director the Supervisor Surgical Service Line is responsible for performing a full range of tasks to monitor and ensure excellence and quality in service line performance. The Supervisor Surgical Service Line is accountable for safety, quality, effective and efficient management of the surgical service line clinical procedures/processes in the operating room, manages development of surgeon specific procedures and preference cards. As a member of the leadership team expectations are that the supervisor facilitates ongoing communication with team members and interdepartmental resources. Incumbent effectively identifies workflow strategies that project accurate surgeon specific case scheduling and appropriate equipment and staffing needs. Maintains oversight of materials and product inventory management for service line working collaboratively with materials management support services and as ad hoc member of Value Anaylsis team.
Creates a work environment that supports staff engagement and is built on the foundation of BMC Operating Principles of trust, respect, integrity,collaboration and cooperation. Integral participant in the education of staff specific to service requirements, surgeon and team concepts and techniques. Provides both written and verbal performance evaluation feedback. Maintains clear understanding of hospital vision, philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures. Incumbent is a role model who demonstrates BHS operating principles and behaviors. Responsibility is centralized within seven major areas: clinical practice, leadership, collaboration, professional development, management of the environment, finance and strategic planning.
Job Responsibilities:
**1)** Clinical Operations: The supervisor facilitates operational processes, monitors and ensures excellence in all clinical and technological practices, process efficiency, workflow optimization and staffing for the provision of the highest quality of patient care.
**2)** Leadership: The supervisor exhibits leadership skills which promote the philosophy, core values, vision, operating principles and behaviors of Baystate Health. Ensures these are applied within current practices to support highest quality of collaborative, efficient, safe and effective patient care.
**3)** Education and Training: Staff Development/Human Resource Management. The supervisor creates an environment that supports staff engagement, celebrates successes through positive feedback and promotes the educational growth of the staff.
**4)** Collaboration: The supervisor collaborates with other members of the healthcare team, to ensure the delivery of all services are coordinated to meet patient specific care needs. The supervisor, as a member of Surgical Services leadership team is expected to participate in team meetings, committees and projects as necessary.
**5)** Fiscal: Maintains responsibility for the facilitating service line supplies, instrumentation and equipment including maintenance of preference cards, product reviews/additions/deletions.
**6)** Fiscal: An ad hoc member of Surgical Services Value Analysis committee; responsible for presentation of new product requests with cost benefit analysis and supporting information. Coordinates with surgeons / vendors / supply chain.
**7)** Evaluates nursing, surgical technologist and OR support personnel performance. Participates in annual employee evaluations and provides performance feedback evaluations to staff members as assigned by Director.
**8)** Maintains proficiency of skills/knowledge in using all associated computer applications and is a clinical resource to staff.
**9)** Supports and maintains a positive work environment by demonstration of effective problem solving, conflict resolution, and acknowledging the contribution of others to foster positive collaborative team engagement.
**10)** Maintains quality control measures through compliance audits as identified by Director.
**11)** Collaborates with sterile processing manager and service leads to align workflows between units.
**12)** Collaborates with perianesthesia areas to align workflows between units.
**13)** Coordinates daily staffing plan and staff assignments with operations coordinator.
**14)** Collaborates with Clinical Nurse Specialist to ensure staff education meets clinical knowledge required for specialty equipment, instrumentation and processes.
