Description
The Department of Agricultural Economics, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University, invites applications for two full-time, Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) positions with 9-month academic appointments beginning August 1, 2026. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Practice in the Financial Planning Program depending on qualifications.
Established in 2014 with an academic minor in financial planning, our program has experienced significant growth over the past decade. We currently serve over 450 students enrolled across our certificate, minor, and Bachelor of Science in Financial Planning programs. All programs are registered with the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board of Standards.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Teach three undergraduate courses per semester across face-to-face and online modalities.
+ Provide reliable, recurring instruction in key upper-division Financial Planning courses. Across the two hires, primary teaching needs include:
+ FINP 436 (Insurance Planning), FINP 438 (Investment Planning), FINP 439 (Retirement Planning), and other core major courses as needed; and
+ FINP 437 (Tax Planning), FINP 441 (Financial Planning Capstone), FINP 442 (Estate Planning), and other core major courses as assigned.
+ Develop and deliver high-quality classroom and online instruction; assess and grade coursework; attend your office on campus each work day.
+ Mentor and support students in academic progress and professional development.
+ Engage in ongoing professional development through professional associations and service.
+ Contribute to program initiatives such as faculty-led student travel, special projects, and industry/stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications
+ PhD in Financial Planning or related field from a regionally accredited institution or a Masters degree appropriate for the field in which the faculty member will teach and significant teaching experience at the college/school level in the field or in a related field with evidence of industry experience.
+ Ability to work cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to contribute positively within a professional community.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience teaching CFP Board–registered financial planning courses at the college/university level.
+ Professional work experience in financial planning and/or a closely related field.
+ Membership/leadership in relevant professional organizations.
+ Recognized achievement in financial planning or related fields.
