+ Launching an open heart program targeted for early 2026
Position Overview:
Reston Hospital Center is a 230+ bed acute care hospital in Reston, VA, providing high-quality healthcare services to the Northern Virginia region. The hospital offers a full range of services, including maternal/child health, inpatient and outpatient surgical services, urology (including lithotripsy), cancer care, rehabilitation therapy programs, and advanced diagnostic imaging. The facility is a certified Stroke Center, Total Joint Center, and the only accredited Chest Pain Center in Northern Virginia. The hospital has earned Joint Commission designation as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for multiple consecutive years.
Job Summary:
The Director of Surgical Services provides strategic oversight of surgical operations with a focus on exceptional patient care, service line growth, leadership development, and resource management. The Director fosters strong relationships with physicians and administration and demonstrates high-level business acumen.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Participate in departmental and hospital-wide committees and provide ongoing communication
+ Advance the patient and customer experience in Surgical Services
+ Coach and develop immediate subordinates through feedback, performance documentation, and individual development plans
+ Adhere to all Human Resource policies
+ Communicate departmental, organizational, and industry information effectively to staff
+ Implement evidence-based employee engagement practices
+ Build strong relationships and networks to achieve organizational and departmental goals
+ Utilize talent review data for leadership pipeline development
+ Foster strategic career advancement for perioperative services leaders
+ Set strategic vision and goals for the department
+ Design standards of care and develop processes to ensure consistent compliance
+ Develop, implement, and evaluate surgical services programs to assure quality patient care aligned with the hospital mission
+ Monitor compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policies, including environmental, patient, and personnel safety
+ Oversee a Performance Improvement (PI) program to monitor and evaluate critical aspects of care
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
+ 3+ years of experience in surgical services required
+ 3+ years in a leadership role preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Current RN license in the practicing state required
+ Certified Nursing Operating Room (CNOR) preferred
+ Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) preferred

**Pay Details:** $150,000.00 to $200,000.00 per year
