Laboratory Assistant
Job Description
The laboratory assistant plays a crucial role in the management of biological specimens, ensuring their receipt, identification verification, processing, and storage. This position also involves a variety of clerical and processing duties such as maintaining supply inventory, filing, stocking, receiving shipments, and cleaning. The role requires daily interaction with various computer information systems.

Responsibilities
+ Receive and verify the identification of biological specimens such as blood and urine.
+ Process and store specimens according to established protocols.
+ Perform clerical duties including maintaining supply inventory and filing.
+ Stock laboratory supplies and receive shipments.
+ Ensure cleanliness and organization of the laboratory space.
+ Utilize various computer information systems efficiently.
Essential Skills
+ High School Diploma or GED with over 1 year of lab or related experience (ideally).
+ Understanding of standard operating procedures.
+ Previous experience or knowledge of computers, keyboarding, and telephone operations.
Work Environment
The role of Molecular Accessioning Lab Assistant requires working from Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
The Cytogenetics Storage Lab Assistant position follows a schedule from Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
