Job Title: Project Engineer
Job Description
The Project Engineer will be responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, executing, and ensuring the schedule performance of engineering projects. This role involves managing major projects, directing the work of others, and instructing those managing smaller projects.
Responsibilities
+ Manage projects of varying sizes from receipt of order through design, procurement, fabrication testing, shipment, installation, and start-up.
+ Communicate with customers to design equipment and execute projects while considering customer needs, production capabilities, and budgets. This includes maximizing use of existing designs, developing new designs through detailed calculations, using design software, and collaborating with others.
+ Perform liaison work with other departments (Purchasing, Manufacturing, Sales, etc.) as well as outside vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
+ Prepare drawings and 3D models of various parts or products while incorporating a detailed understanding of manufacturing processes into designs.
+ Develop new products and translate them into design parameters for the manufacturing process.
+ Support and engage in generating quotes for parts, service, and capital equipment by identifying requirements and providing summaries of costs and lead time.
+ Evaluate technical bid packages, generate technical responses, accumulate documentation, gather cost information, and finalize formal packages.
+ Accept requests from customers to troubleshoot technical issues with products and develop solutions with customers in an efficient and professional manner.
+ Continuously seek to build understanding of products and industries and convert those into standards, training, and sales support literature.
Essential Skills
+ Engineering, project engineering, manufacturing process, and project management expertise.
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD and mechanical engineering.
+ Direct experience working with customers, fabrication, estimation, and routing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a college or university in Engineering, preferably Mechanical (Associates Degree with significant relevant experience is also acceptable).
+ 4 to 12 years of broad engineering experience, including product design, manufacturing methodology, tooling, and laboratory experience.
+ Strong math skills, including the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Understanding of complex algebraic equations and calculus is a plus.
+ Ability to apply mathematical operations to frequency distributions, reliability and validity of tests, normal curve, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, chi-square application, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
+ Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
+ Must possess a valid driver's license in state of residence and be insurable under the company's motor vehicle insurance policy.
Work Environment
The role is based on-site in an office within a fabrication/machine shop environment. The shop operates Monday through Thursday with 10-hour shifts, offering some flexibility on the engineering side.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $100000.00/hr.
