Senior Process Engineer

About the Role
As a Senior Process Engineer, you will be a key driver of manufacturing excellence, quality, and food safety. This high-impact role focuses on optimizing production line layouts, improving equipment performance, and ensuring operational efficiency. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams - including Food Safety & Quality, Manufacturing, and Product Development—while positioning yourself for future growth into a Director of Engineering role.
What You’ll Do
+ Design & Optimize Processes: Develop, budget, and implement new and existing manufacturing processes to ensure peak performance and compliance.
+ Drive Efficiency: Analyze production yields and workflows, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve throughput, quality, and safety.
+ Troubleshoot & Innovate: Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions, process failures, and product defects using operational excellence tools.
+ Lead Maintenance Operations: Manage the Maintenance team, oversee training, scheduling, and resource allocation, and develop preventative/predictive maintenance programs.
+ Collaborate & Integrate: Work with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and process improvements, while managing vendor and contractor relationships.
+ Champion Continuous Improvement: Implement cost-reduction and productivity initiatives, mentor team members, and foster a culture of operational excellence.
What We’re Looking For
+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related scientific field.
+ Experience: 5+ years in food plant engineering, process engineering, or related manufacturing roles.
+ Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, CAD, and MiniTab.
+ Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with HACCP, USDA, FDA regulations, and experience with GFSI and SQF guidelines.
+ Preferred: Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar certification.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Louis, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62.50 - $70.67/hr.
