We are seeking a dedicated R&D Electro-mechanical Technician to join our innovative team focused on building cutting-edge self-driving technology. This role involves vehicle build, sub-assembly, PCBA solder/rework, and harness build/assembly. The ideal candidate will possess excellent documentation practices and work collaboratively with Hardware Engineering and associated teams. Adherence to safety standards and meeting internal deadlines is crucial. You will work with limited oversight and are encouraged to pursue continuing education and development opportunities.
Responsibilities
+ Build and assemble vehicles and sub-components for self-driving technology.
+ Perform PCBA solder/rework and harness build/assembly.
+ Document processes and practices meticulously.
+ Collaborate closely with Hardware Engineering and associated teams.
+ Follow safety standards and meet internal project deadlines.
+ Work independently with minimal oversight.
+ Contribute to the success of the R&D team by providing support in various areas including electrical, fabrication, and manufacturing.
+ Maintain and repair equipment, implementing necessary upgrades.
+ Design parts and fixtures to aid in fabrication processes.
+ Document fixtures, designs, and processes for archival purposes.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum 7 years of direct experience in automotive, trucking, or prototyping spaces.
+ Excellent communication skills.
+ Deep knowledge of automotive and trucking systems, tooling, and mechanical assemblies.
+ Strong mechanical skills, including the ability to read schematics and layouts.
+ Problem-solving, diagnostic, analytical, and isolation skills.
+ Proficiency with Windows, Mac, or Linux.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Operate effectively in a high-paced R&D and rapid prototyping environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Familiarity with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks and/or Catia.
+ Ability to read and comprehend engineered drawings.
+ Certification and training in GD&T.
+ Experience with Jira, Confluence, ERP, PLM, CAD, and various other software tools.
+ Experience with instrumentation such as thermal test setups, fluid dynamics, air pressure, and load cells.
+ A customer service-oriented attitude with multitasking capabilities under pressure.
Work Environment
This position is 100% on-site, with daily catered lunches provided. You will work in a high-paced R&D and rapid prototyping environment where collaboration and innovation are key. The atmosphere encourages learning and development, ensuring you have the tools necessary for success.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Pittsburgh, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $31.00/hr.
